Manage expiration of Azure Blob storage

• • The Cache-Control header in the HTTP response from the origin server. This article describes several ways that you can set the Cache-Control header on a blob in Azure Storage. You can also control cache settings from the Azure portal by setting CDN caching rules. If you create a caching rule and set its caching behavior to Override or Bypass cache, the origin-provided caching settings discussed in this article are ignored. For information about general caching concepts, see Tip You can choose to set no TTL on a blob. In this case, Azure CDN automatically applies a default TTL of seven days, unless you have set up caching rules in the Azure portal. This default TTL applies only to general web delivery optimizations. For large file optimizations, the default TTL is one day, and for media streaming optimizations, the default TTL is one year. For more information about how Azure CDN works to speed up access to blobs and other files, see For more information about Azure Blob storage, see Setting Cache-Control headers by using CDN caching rules The preferred method for setting a blob's Cache-Control header is to use caching rules in the Azure portal. For more information about CDN caching rules, see Note Caching rules are available only for Azure CDN Standard from Verizon and Azure CDN Standard from Akamai profiles. For Azure CDN Premium from Verizon profiles, you must use the Manage portal for similar functionality. To navigate to the CDN caching rules page: • In the Azure ...

Introducing the Windows Azure Content Delivery Network

As part of the Windows Azure CTP, we are announcing the Windows Azure Content Delivery Network (CDN) to deliver Windows Azure Blob content. Windows Azure CDN offers developers a global solution for delivering high-bandwidth content. Windows Azure CDN has 18 locations globally (United States, Europe, Asia, Australia and South America) and continues to expand. Windows Azure CDN caches your Windows Azure blobs at strategically placed locations to provide maximum bandwidth for delivering your content to users. You can enable CDN delivery for any storage account via the Windows Azure Developer Portal. The CDN provides edge delivery only to blobs that are in public blob containers, which are available for anonymous access. The benefit of using a CDN is better performance and user experience for users who are farther from the source of the content stored in the Windows Azure Blob service. In addition, Windows Azure CDN provides worldwide high-bandwidth access to serve content for popular events. When you enable CDN access for a storage account, the Windows Azure portal provides you with a domain name of the following format: http:/ /.vo.msecnd.net/. This domain name can then be used to access blobs in a public container. For example, given a public container “images” and a storage account “cohowinery”, once the storage account is enabled for CDN access, users can access the blobs in that container using either of the following two URLs: • Windows Azure Blob service URL: • Windows...

Azure Blob Storage

Blob storage is built from the ground up to support the scale, security, and availability needs of mobile, web, and cloud-native application developers. Use it as a cornerstone for serverless architectures such as Azure Functions. Blob storage supports the most popular development frameworks, including Java, .NET, Python, and Node.js, and is the only cloud storage service that offers a premium, SSD-based object storage tier for low-latency and interactive scenarios. Azure Data Lake Storage is a highly scalable and cost-effective data lake solution for big data analytics. It combines the power of a high-performance file system with massive scale and economy to help you speed your time to insight. Data Lake Storage extends Azure Blob Storage capabilities and is optimized for analytics workloads.

Introduction to Blob (object) Storage

In this article Azure Blob Storage is Microsoft's object storage solution for the cloud. Blob Storage is optimized for storing massive amounts of unstructured data. Unstructured data is data that doesn't adhere to a particular data model or definition, such as text or binary data. About Blob Storage Blob Storage is designed for: • Serving images or documents directly to a browser. • Storing files for distributed access. • Streaming video and audio. • Writing to log files. • Storing data for backup and restore, disaster recovery, and archiving. • Storing data for analysis by an on-premises or Azure-hosted service. Users or client applications can access objects in Blob Storage via HTTP/HTTPS, from anywhere in the world. Objects in Blob Storage are accessible via the • • • • • Clients can also securely connect to Blob Storage by using SSH File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) and mount Blob Storage containers by using the Network File System (NFS) 3.0 protocol. About Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 Blob Storage supports Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Microsoft's enterprise big data analytics solution for the cloud. Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 offers a hierarchical file system as well as the advantages of Blob Storage, including: • Low-cost, tiered storage • High availability • Strong consistency • Disaster recovery capabilities For more information about Data Lake Storage Gen2, see Blob Storage resources Blob Storage offers three types of resources: • The storage account • A container ...
