This question is posed to unsettle the believers and rationalize an atheistic lifestyle. However, it is a logically baseless question as it is predicated on a categorical error of definitions, as well as a failure to appreciate the strong argument proving the existence of the uncreated Creator. The Prophet (ṣ) informed us that this question comes from the whispering of Satan. As such, when the believer is confronted with this question, he or she should reaffirm their faith in Allah and stop trying to think about it logically because the premise itself is flawed. Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: يَأْتِي الشَّيْطَانُ أَحَدَكُمْ فَيَقُولَ مَنْ خَلَقَ كَذَا وَكَذَا حَتَّى يَقُولَ لَهُ مَنْ خَلَقَ رَبَّكَ فَإِذَا بَلَغَ ذَلِكَ فَلْيَسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِ وَلْيَنْتَهِ Satan ...

Types of Creation in Islam

My family and I were on a journey, and we were listening to the shaykh on the radio. In his talk, the shaykh said that Allah created the smartphone. I objected to that and said: The phone was manufactured by humans, piece by piece, and Allah, may He be exalted, did not create it. My mother asked me: Do you think that you are not created? And I said yes, because I think that creation refers to that which is created from nothing (like the creation of the heavens and the earth), or is creation through a miraculous process (like the creation of Adam from dust). As for me, I was created from a sperm and egg until I became a baby, so I think that it is formation and transformation, not creation. I gave the example of bread which is made from flour and water, and is not created. One of my proofs is that if birth is creation, when did this creation occur? So I am asking: is my argument valid? Is there any sin on me for thinking about these topics? Praise be to Allah. [Maryam 19:9] Even though He says that He created him from a sperm-drop.” ( Majmu‘ al-Fatawa, 18/235) Al-Qunawi said in his commentary on Tafsir al-Baydawi (10/123): “The words, “Allah created Adam and the seminal matter”, serve to highlight the fact that man’s creation is from earth and creation is not limited to that. That is, what is meant by creating from it is creating through a certain means, for Allah, may He be exalted, created Adam, who is the father of humankind, from it, or he created the seminal matter fr...

The Qur’aan was revealed by Allaah, not created

Praise be to Allah. What we Muslims are obliged to believe is that which has come to us from Allaah, and that which the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) has told us. Allaah has told us that He speaks, as He says (interpretation of the meaning): “And who is truer in statement than Allaah?[al-Nisaa’ 4:87] “and whose words can be truer than those of Allaah? [al-Nisaa’ 4:122] These two aayahs offer proof that Allaah speaks, and that His words are true, and there is no kind of lie in them at all. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “And (remember) when Allaah will say (on the Day of Resurrection): ‘O ‘Eesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)!…’” [al-Maa’idah 5:116] This aayah shows that Allaah speaks, and that His speech can be heard, so His speech has sound. And His speech includes words and phrases. The evidence that the speech of Allaah is composed of letters is the aayah (interpretation of the meaning): “O Moosa (Moses)! Verily, I am your Lord!”[Ta-Ha 20:11] because these words are composed of letters, and they are part of the speech of Allaah. And the evidence that the speech of Allaah has sound is the aayah (interpretation of the meaning]: “And We called him from the right side of the Mount, and made him draw near to Us for a talk with him [Moosa (Moses)]. [Maryam 19:52] Calling and talking can only happen with sound. See Sharh Lam’ah al-I’tiqaad by Ibn ‘Uthaymeen, p. 73 Hence the belief of Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah is that Allaah speak...

Allah

Allah, Arabic Allāh (“God”), the one and only God in Etymologically, the name Allah is probably a al-Ilāh, “the God.” The name’s origin can be traced to the earliest il, el, or eloah, the latter two used in the Allāh. The Arabic word thus holds special significance for Muslims, regardless of their native tongue, because the Arabic word was spoken by God himself. World Religions & Traditions Allah is the pivot of the Muslim faith. The Qurʾān stresses above all Allah’s singularity and sole tawḥīd (“oneness”). He never sleeps or tires, and, while wāḥid) and inherently one ( aḥad); and (3) he is Allah, says the Qurʾān, “loves those who do good,” and two passages in the Qurʾān express a mutual love between him and humanity. Although he is infinitely forgiving, according to the Qurʾān, there is one infraction that God will not forgive in the hereafter: the sin of associationism, or rusul) who came to different Muslim scholars have collected, in the Qurʾān and in the al-asmāʾ al-ḥusnā) of Allah, which describe his attributes. These names have become objects of devoted recitation and meditation. Among the names of Allah are the One and Only, the Living One, the Subsisting ( al-Ḥayy al-Qayyūm), the Real Truth ( al-Ḥaqq), the al-ʿAẓīm), the Wise ( al-Ḥakīm), the Omnipotent ( al-ʿAzīz), the Hearer ( al-Samīʿ), the Seer ( al-Baṣīr), the Omniscient ( al-ʿAlīm), the Witness ( al-Shahīd), the Trustee ( al-Wakīl), the al-Raḥmān), the Merciful ( al-Raḥīm), the Utterly Compassionate ( al-Ra...

How should a Muslim answer, who created God?

🔊 Listen to this 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐚 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐥𝐢𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐫, 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐆𝐨𝐝? Mohamad Mostafa Nassar Twitter:@NassarMohamadMR 𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐡-𝐈𝐟 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐡 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 In Islamic theology the most solid and concrete argument to the question, ‘Who created God’ is given by known theological scholars such as Ibn Sina, Al-Farabi, Ibn Arabi, Shah Wali Allah of Delhi and so on. They have proposed or forwarded a variety of versions of this argument. This argument is known as proof of the veracity. The proofs or argumentations surrounding God’s existence can be divided into two sets: One set of the proofs consider the creatures as means for argument using the creatures to reach God. But in the other set of arguments, the creatures do not serve as means for proving God’s existence; rather they reach God through the very reality of existence and concept of existence. The first set of proofs are calledinni(which is an inference from effect to cause) and the second set of proofs are calledlimmi(which is an inference from the cause to cause) or partiallyinni. The proof of the veracity is from the second category. The proof of the veracious is an argumentation which benefits from Truth to argue for truth in order to prove the existence of the Truth, the Exalted. Nothing else other than the Truth is used to substantiate God’s existence. The Argument: The question ‘Who created God’ arises only when the Creator is viewed from the perspective of causality. The principle of causality holds that every ef...

Creation of Man in Islam

Praise be to Allah. How was Adam created? Allah created Adam with His Hand and breathed into him his soul created by Him, and told His angels to prostrate to him. Allah created Adam from dust, as He says (interpretation of the meaning): “Verily, the likeness of ‘Isa (Jesus) before Allah is the likeness of Adam. He created him from dust, then (He) said to him: ‘Be!’ — and he was.” [Al ‘Imran 3:59] When Allah had completed the creation of Adam, “(Remember) when your Lord said to the angels: ‘Truly, I am going to create man from clay. So when I have fashioned him and breathed into him (his) soul created by Me, then you fall down prostrate to him.’ So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them, except Iblis (Satan), he was proud and was one of the disbelievers.” [Sad 38:71-74 – interpretation of the meaning] Then Allah told the angels that He was going to “And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: ‘Verily, I am going to place (mankind) generations after generations on earth’.” [al-Baqarah 2:30] Allah taught Adam all the names “And He taught Adam all the names (of everything).” [al-Baqarah 2:31 – interpretation of the meaning] When Iblis refused to prostrate to Adam, Allah expelled him and cursed him: “(Allah) said: ‘Then get out from here; for verily, you are outcast. And verily, My Curse is on you till the Day of Recompense’” [Sad 38:77-78 – interpretation of the meaning] When Iblis knew of his fate, he asked Allah to give him respite until the Day of Resurrection:...
