Wimbledon 2022 results: Novak Djokovic beats Nick Kyrgios to win 21st Grand Slam title

ALL ENGLAND CLUB, LONDON - Novak Djokovic secured his 21st Grand Slam and a seventh Wimbledon title by beating Nick Kyrgios 4-6 6-3 6-4 7-6 (3) in the men's final. The Serb had to come from a set down to overcome Kyrgios, playing in his first ever singles Grand Slam final, and now sits just one behind rival Rafael Nadal (22) in the men's all-time list of career majors. Prior to today's meeting between the two, Djokovic hadn't even taken a set off Kyrgios in their previous two meetings, but the No.1 seed is a different beast when it comes to Grand Slams and especially Centre Court - the four-time defending champion hasn't lost on this court since 2013. Djokovic, who lost the opening set in his quarterfinal, semifinal, and final matches en route to scooping the Wimbledon title, found his best form after a cagey opening set and Kyrgios didn't react quick enough. As Kyrgios battled with the umpire, a drunken fan and himself at times, it was the 35-year-old who kept his focus and saved his best til last as he brushed aside his opponent's serving threat to win after a nervy fourth-set tie-break. Nick Kyrgios reacts to Wimbledon defeat "It's been an amazing couple of weeks for me" "Yeah he is a bit of a God, I'm not going to lie. I thought I played well," he said of Djokovic. "First of all congratulations to Novak and your team, you've won this Championships that many times I don't even know any more. "Obviously to all the ball kids, the umpires, I know we have a tough relationsh...

Novak Djokovic beats Nick Kyrgios to win Wimbledon title

Wimbledon 2022 on the BBC Venue: All England Club Dates: 27 June-10 July Coverage: Live across BBC TV, radio and online with extensive coverage on BBC iPlayer, Red Button, Connected TVs and mobile app. Novak Djokovic underlined his recent dominance at Wimbledon with a composed and controlled fightback against Australia's Nick Kyrgios to win a fourth consecutive men's singles title. It is Djokovic's seventh SW19 men's title and only Roger Federer has more. Victory also moved him one behind Rafael Nadal's record 22 men's majors. Top seed Djokovic made a slower start than his 27-year-old opponent, who initially seemed nerveless in his first Grand Slam singles final. But the Serb did not lose belief as he showed all of his experience and nous to turn the match around. "He's a bit of a god, I'm not going to lie. I thought I played well," Kyrgios said as he congratulated Djokovic. Losing his winning position began to irritate Kyrgios, who is known for his fiery temperament as well as his exciting tennis. While Kyrgios increasingly remonstrated with his support team, Djokovic remained cool in the heat of the battle on a scorching Centre Court. After clinching victory with his third match point, Djokovic dropped to his haunches and picked a blade of the Centre Court grass to eat in what has now become a customary celebration. It was a first major win of the year for the Serb, who was stopped from playing in the Australian Open after being deported because of his vaccination status...

Wimbledon 2022 results: Rafael Nadal breezes into fourth round with impressive win over Lorenzo Sonego

Rafael Nadal put on a Centre Court masterclass to reach the fourth round at Wimbledon after beating Italian Lorenzo Sonego 6-1 6-2 6-4 as he took another step closer to winning a remarkable 23rd Grand Slam. Unlike his previous two wins at SW19 this week, in which he dropped a set to Francisco Cerundolo and Ricardas Berankis and was far from the entertainer we know he can be, the No.2 seed was in a ruthless mood on Saturday night. Sonego, who was hoping to reach the fourth round of Wimbledon for only the second time in his career, was his victim, but in truth the 27th seed rarely troubled, and having lost the first set inside 27 minutes, the writing was on the wall right from the off. The two-time champion has now reached the last-16 of the Wimbledon for the 10th time in his career and he'll face Botic van de Zandschulp on Monday. The Sporting News was on Centre Court to bring you live updates and highlights of the match - check out how theaction unfolded below.
