He was recently included in India's Test squad for World Test Championship final (WTC) against Australia as a reserve opener after Ruturaj Gaikwad's absence due to a wedding. Rinku Singh made a rapid rise during the IPL 2023 with his finishing skills and has established himself as one of the hottest prospects in domestic cricket. Both Rinku and Yashavi are set to earn a national team call for the West Indies tour and are expected to be part of the T20 World Cup 2024 squad as well.

In England after pausing the series with 2-1 lead because of a Covid breakdown, Kohli would serve a reminder again. In less than six months, Kohli would be removed as captain in limited-overs and he would eventually step down as skipper of the Test team too. And those transition talks never, ever cropped up. Kohli and then head coach Ravi Shastri were flirting with the idea of middle-order reinforcements as early as the 2021 tour of England. India could be in for some massive changes after their defeat to Australia in the World Test Championship final 2023. While there may not be any knee-jerk reactions after their second consecutive defeat in the decisive one-off Test, senior players like Cheteshwar Pujara and Umesh Yadav could be phased out in the coming matches. India crashed to a 209-run loss(AP) The Shiv Sunder Das-led selection committee and head coach Rahul Dravid have a chance at grooming young talent in the early phases of the next WTC cycle, which starts with a two-Test series in the West Indies in July.
