The term " satellite" refers to a man-made device sent into space for a variety of purposes, including remote sensing, weather forecasting, and research. Since 1975, India has successfully launched a variety of satellites. The India Space Research Organisation (ISRO) was established in 1969 and is the country's sole space agency. It is in charge of the design, construction, launch, and operation of these spacecraft. Bangalore is home to ISRO's headquarters. ISRO has launched a variety of satellites, such as Indian remote sensing satellites, GPS or navigation satellites, spy satellites, and military satellites. Here is the complete list of satellites launched by India since 1975.

Chandrayaan

By India Today Web Desk: ISRO just marked another proud moment in history as it launch its second mission to Moon, Chandrayaan-2 today on July 22, 2019. The Chandrayaan-2 was launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh on-board GSLV (Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle) Mark-III to head to the Moon's South Polar Region. This is India’s second mission to the moon after Chandrayaan-1 mission, which was launched almost ten years ago. As India basked in the glory of this proud moment, Indian Twitter took to social media to IFS officer, Parveen Kaswan took to Twitter to share a picture of India’s first communication satellite, APPLE, being tested on a bullock cart in 1981. From Bullock cart to Moon. Apple satellite in 1981. The journey which started humble & now after achievements like PSLV, GSLV, Cryo engines, MOM, Moon & now a moon lander. Kudos & Wishes to all the scientists & researchers for making things happen & making He shared the picture with the caption, "From Bullock cart to Moon. Apple satellite in 1981. The journey which started humble & now after achievements like PSLV, GSLV, Cryo engines, MOM, Moon & now a moon lander. List of Indian Satellites: ISRO’s Journey from 1st to 118th Satellite!

India has launched 118satellites since 1975. Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is responsible for India’s Space Program. In February 2017, ISRO has created a new record by launching 104 satellites in one go. Out of these 104 satellites, only 3 of these were Indian Satellites. These were launched by Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) - C37 on 15 th February 2017. Earlier, this record was set by Russia in 2014 by launching 37 satellites in a single mission. US Space Agency NASA has launched 29 satellites in one go. ISRO launched many types of satellites. These include Indian Remote Sensing Satellites, GPS or Navigation Satellites, Spy Satellites, and Military Satellites etc. Below in this article we have provided the complete list of India Satellites launched since 1975. Space PSU NSIL launches India’s 1st ‘demand

NEW DELHI: In a giant step towards rolling out the Modi government’s space reforms, public sector entity NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) on Thursday successfully undertook the launch of Gsat-24, its first “demand-driven” communication satellite mission, by using the services of French company Arianespace’s Ariane 5 rocket from French Guiana. This is the first time the NSIL has leased out the entire satellite capacity to direct-to-home (DTH) service provider Tata Play for 15 years even before the launch. Gsat-24, which weighs a massive 4,180 kg at lift-off and has a mission life of 15 years, is a 24 Ku-band communication satellite meant for meeting the DTH communication needs of the country. ‘Demand-driven’ mode basically means when a satellite is launched, one will know who the end customers are going to be. Earlier, the mode was more supply driven, with capacity being leased after the launch. Gsat-24 is the first of the many ‘demand-driven’ missions that NSIL would undertake in the coming years. With the successful launch of Gsat-24, NSIL will be owning and operating nearly 11 communication satellites in-orbit and will meet the bulk of the communication needs of the country, a Department of Space statement said. Built by Isro for NSIL, the satellite was successfully placed into the geostationary orbit by the Ariane 5 rocket nearly 40 minutes after liftoff at 3.20 hours (IST). “Today’s successful mission of Gsat-24 is a major step forward for NSIL in commercially meeting the...

Space research: Riding high

An Ariane rocket on the launch pad in French Guiana: Exciting possibilities This is the year of home-made satellites for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) with three of them being orbited in 1981. Though geared to the common and primary goal of their use for national development, the satellites are intended for distinctly different purposes. The first of these, the purely scientific Rohini satellite (RS-D-1) is an improvement on the Rohini launched by the SLV-3 rocket , from the Sriharikotta Range last year. Next in line is the country's first communication satellite, called APPLE. The last is the Satellite for Earth Observations (SEO II) which, like Bhaskara, is to be used to make an inventory of resources using remote sensing techniques. The 38-kg RS-D-1 is to test the space worthiness of an indigenously developed landmark sensor which covers 250 km by 80 km in each frame with a resolution of one km. These pictures can be used to discover various earth resources; besides, they will be utilised to develop a method for knowing the exact path of the satellite - and its position with reference to important landmarks - even when the satellite is not "visible" to the tracking stations. This has implications in the making of future satellites for earth resources survey and in keeping a closer watch on the satellite's movements. Benefits: More exciting than Rohini is the Ariane Passenger Payload Experiment (APPLE) being launched from the Kourou Space Centre in French...
