TNN / Dec 23, 2022, 08:25 (IST) The Jaipur Rajasthan High Court has asked the Central Government to dispose of the representations regarding refund in the case of depositors of Adarsh Credit Cooperative Society within six weeks. The order was issued by Justice MM Shrivastav while disposing of a petition filed by Kalpana Mehta and 31 others representing the petitioners, Senior Advocate Mahendra Shah and Advocate Pragya Seth. The petitioners have stated that they have invested all their savings in Adarsh Credit Cooperative Society, but the deposited amounts and interest were not returned to them even after the expiry of the stipulated period. Liquidator appointed for winding up of Adarsh Credit Coop Society: Shah

New Delhi, Dec 22 (PTI) Various irregularities have been reported in the functioning of Ahmedabad-based Adarsh Credit Cooperative Society and a liquidator has been appointed for winding up of the Society, Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday informed Parliament. In his written reply to a query to the Rajya Sabha, Shah said various irregularities including embezzlement, siphoning and diversion of funds have been reported by multiple law enforcing agencies in the functioning of Adarsh Credit Cooperative Society Ltd. "Accordingly, a liquidator has been appointed for winding up of the Society," he said. Shah further said complaints have been received for the non-repayment of funds against some of the multi-state credit cooperative societies. In the case of delinquent societies, action for winding up of 44 multi-state credit cooperative societies has been taken so far under Section 86 of the Multi State Cooperative Societies (MSCS) Act, 2002, he added. Despite extension of Liquidator’s term, no progress in Adarsh Co

Though, the office of central registrar of cooperative societies has extended the term of liquidator appointed in the beleaguered cooperative- Rajasthan based Adarsh Credit Cooperative Society, still the investors of the society are going from pillar to post to get their money back. Firstly, the Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies had appointed liquidator H S Patel on 29th November 2019 and now the extension has been given for a further period of twelve months from 29 November, 2020. The order released from the office of central registrar which is signed by Alok Agarwal, Director (Cooperation) reads, “The completion of liquidation work of Adarsh Credit Cooperative Society, Ahmedabad, Gujarat will require more time and it has been deemed expedient to extend the term of liquidator for a period of twelve months from November 29, 2020”. “Therefore, in continuation of this Department’s order dated 29.11.2019, the term of the liquidator of Adarsh Credit Cooperative Society Limited, Ahmedabad, Gujarat is hereby extended up to 28th November 2021. The liquidator is requested to complete the liquidation work within the given period. The order is issued with the approval of the Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies”, it further reads.
