Ranchi, Apr 28 (PTI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday launched the state’s first air ambulance service from Ranchi to other parts of the country. Soren flagged-off the service for which an aircraft of the Redbird Airways has been taken on lease, an official of the state civil aviation department said. The service will be provided at rates between Rs 3-8 lakh for places such as Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Varanasi, Lucknow and Tirupati. Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said, “The service is an effort to provide timely better treatment to seriously ill people. The state government is also contemplating to extend the service to those who are unable to afford the fares.” The state civil aviation department has set up a cell for the air ambulance service which can be availed through phone calls and emails. “The cell has received more than 250 calls enquiring about the service,” he said. Soren said his administration intends to establish helipads along major roads so that those seriously injured in accidents can be airlifted by helicopters. The air ambulance service will also be started from other districts of the state very soon, he said. The fare for other destinations will be at Rs 1.10 lakh per hour. RAJ KUMAR Ranchi, April 28: Chief minister Hemant Soren accompanied by Health Minister Banna Gupta inaugurated the air ambulance service and a portal related to this at Birsa Munda Airport in the Jharkhand capital. This is for the first time such a service is being started by the government in the state. The purpose of starting the service is to provide emergency health care to the common citizens. It was a common perception that only those who can get ambulance service can afford its charge but the chief minister while rolling it out made it clear that the government’s intention is to provide the service even to those who have no capacity to bear its service charge. Soren, on the occasion, said: “Jharkhand stands firmly in the field of health. Many challenges came to the fore in providing health services in a forest-mountainous state. In this order, hundreds of ambulances are running on the roads by the state government. Health services keep changing. In remote rural areas, where four-wheeler ambulances cannot reach, a bike ambulance has been provided. Machines equipped with the world’s best technology have also been installed in the biggest hospital of the state i.e., RIMS. In a first, the Government of Jharkhand has launched an air ambulance to facilitate transport facilities for healthcare. This is an effort to provide timely better treatment to seriously ill people. While the service is chargeable, the government will also provide the air ambulance for those who are unable to pay for it as per requirement. Chief Minister Hemant Soren formally inaugurated the air ambulance services at Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Airport on Friday, 28th April. Air ambulance service will be available at Ranchi, Bokaro, Deoghar, Jamshedpur, Dumka, Dhanbad and Giridih airports. Talking about the same, the Chief Minister shared in a Facebook post, “The government intends to help every class from the air ambulance service. The aim of the service is to provide accessibly priced air transfers between the state of Jharkhand and cities in other Indian states, including Banaras, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Tirupati.
