Air Force releases 102nd Uniform Board results for Airmen, Guardians > Air Force > Article Display

• Published March 21, 2023 • Secretary of the Air Force Public Affairs ARLINGTON, Va. (AFNS) -- Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. CQ Brown, Jr. 36-2903, Dress and Personal Appearance of United States Air Force and United States Space Force Personnel. Authorized changes are effective April 1. As separate services, the Air Force and Space Force host independent uniform boards; however, the results of one service’s uniform board may be adopted by either service. As a result, some of the changes approved by the Air Force’s 102nd Uniform Board were adopted by the Space Force. These specific changes have been identified within DAFGM 36-2903. Airmen and Guardians submitted change requests through the Guardians and Airmen Innovation Network online. The summary of approved changes are: Child Development Centers (CDCs): This authorizes installation commanders to designate CDCs as a no-hat, no-salute zone. Additionally, in areas not designated, salutes are not required when either person is carrying children. Authorizes the wear of cold weather headband: This expands the current cold weather accessories to add a headband in addition to scarves, earmuffs, watch cap and gloves. Authorizes wear of a total of four badges on the Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP) uniform above the USAF tape. This expands the current regulation, which allows a maximum of two badges to four. • WAPS Changes Starting with the 22E6 and E5 promotion testing cycles, the Air Force will begin using Situational Judgment Test questions as part of the Promotion Fitness Examination. This change is an integral part of the overall talent management transformation effort to better align the enlisted promotion system with the Air Force’s foundational competencies and the new Airman Leadership Qualities, as well as provide an agile approach to measuring the diverse knowledge, skills, and experience of Airmen. The boards selected 798 Citizen Airmen for promotion. The selection boards convened at ARPC, 24-28 January, to determine those officers best and fully qualified to assume the next higher grade. Board members selected 798 of 1,063 officers considered. Enlisted Promotions

There are two supplemental promotion processes; in-system supplemental and the senior non-commissioned officer (SNCO) supplemental board. In-System Supplemental (E5 - E6) • The in-system supplemental is processed monthly in the Weighted Airman Promotion System (WAPS) • Only applicable to Airmen whose weighable data only (i.e. Static closeout date (SCOD) report, Decorations, etc.) changes in their promotion file • In-system supplemental consideration also applies to Airmen who test after initial selects have been made, deployed Airmen or anyone who was unable to test during their normal testing window • Airmen who require consideration by a SNCO Supplemental Board cannot be considered during the in-system supplemental The SNCO Supplemental Board (E7 - E9) • Only applicable to promotion eligible Airmen to the grades of E7, E8, and E9 who either did not meet the initial promotion board or request consideration by a SNCO supplemental board • This board is held twice a year (June and October) • Airmen may request to meet the supplemental board if they believe they have a valid request according to AFI 36-2502, Enlisted Airman Promotion/Demotion Programs Table 2.6 • There are no automatic approvals for supplemental board consideration other than for those Airman who's most recent SCOD evaluation did not meet the Central Promotion Board or those who had a change evaluation approved through the Evaluation Record Appeal Board.
