In a surprising move, Airtel has announced new 5G-bundled plans in India even as it continues to roll out the network across the country. The telecom network currently has 4G-only packs but in areas where the latest network is available, the company is offering unlimited 5G data on all recharge plans, with the exception of a few. In addition to unlimited data, Airtel is also bundling OTT benefits as users get access to Amazon Prime and Disney+ Hotstar on specific plans. Let’s check out the new 5G-bundled Airtel plans. Rs 499: Airtel’s new Rs 499 recharge plan comes with a validity of 28 days but the pack offers unlimited 5G data, voice calls, and 100 daily SMS. Additionally, users get a 3-months subscription to Disney+ Hotstar mobile, Xstream app benefits, Wink subscription, and more. However, for users wanting to recharge the pack but are from an area where 5G is not available, the plan offers unlimited 4G data but with a 3GB daily cap. Rs 699: Airtel’s Rs 699 plan offers 56 days of validity. Benefits of the plan include unlimited 5G data, voice calls, and 100 daily SMS. Additionally, subscribers can enjoy 56 days of Amazon Prime membership, Xstream app, Wynk subscription and others. In Areas where 5G is not available 4G unlimited data will be available to customers but with a 3GB daily data cap. 5G in India: How Airtel, Jio and Vodafone Idea plan to rollout services

5G networks in India were officially inaugurated earlier today at IMC 2022. Following an in-depth look into how the technology will change India across various industries and sectors, telecom players Airtel and Jio are set to launch their 5G plans in India soon, while Vodafone Idea is expected to follow up soon after. Here’s a quick look at how all three Indian telecom players plan to rollout 5G services in the country. Reliance Jio Reliance Jio is set to bring in its 5G plans by Diwali in India, around the period of October 22 – 26. The service will initially be available in four Indian cities. These are Reliance Jio has also announced that other cities in the country will also get access to 5G services in a phased out manner by December 2023. Bharti Airtel Airtel has announced that the telecom operator will rollout 5G services in eight Indian cities starting today. While Airtel hasn’t clarified which eight cities these are, expect metro cities like Mumbai and Delhi to be included. Airtel 5G on Android 5G can be enabled on any compatible Android phone by following the procedure mentioned below. • Open the ‘Settings’ app on your smartphone • Next, select ‘Mobile network’ or a similar setting • Select the SIM you want to enable 5G on • From here, select the ‘Preferred network type’ option • Now simply tap and select the 5G network type • If 5G has indeed rolled out in your region, you should be getting a 5G symbol in the next couple of minutes on the status bar Make sure to turn off Wi-Fi and enable mobile data for the 5G symbol to show up.
