Mr. Puri, who suffered from myelodysplastic syndrome, a bone marrow disease, was admitted to the hospital Dec. 28 after falling at his residence a day earlier. Mr. Puri acted in about 220 Bollywood movies after his 1971 debut in the Hindi film "Reshma Aur Shera." Some of his best-known movies were "Naseeb" (Fate), "Ardh Satya" (Half Truth), "Andha Kanoon" (Blind Law), "Shakti" (Strength), "Coolie" and "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" (The Big-Hearted Will Walk Away With the Bride).
