The Yannathan hall is at the built centre of a small farming hamlet once formed by the Union Church, nearby Yannathan School and Yannathan store. Closer settlement in this area in the early twentieth century is reflected by the relatively large size of the new hall and the highly intact surviving fabric from the inter-war era. The high integrity of the hall and its setting reflect closely the local farming and community as well as continuing social activity by the numerous and diverse district community groups that included gatherings from the West Gippsland region by the CWA.
