In the circular, the BBMP said that all apartment complex residents and owners should adhere to the Building Bye-laws 2003 and National Building Code of India 2016 guidelines. According to the police, the fire accident visuals showed one of the victims, Bhagyarekha, screaming for help, but people could not help them owing to the sealed grille in the balcony of the apartment at Devarachikkanahalli. The barricaded balcony also affected the rescue operation by the fire officials. A godown, where around 1,800 cans of chemicals used to manufacture sanitisers and paint thinners were stored, caught fire on Tuesday around 11 a.m. in Bapuji Nagar. It took 200 Fire Services personnel and 15 tenders over eight hours to bring the blaze under control, but not before some of the barrels started exploding one after the other around 6 p.m. causing panic among residents. “Fortunately, four employees who were at the godown rushed out to safety before the fire engulfed the entire premises,” said a Fire Services official, adding that the godown was around 1,000 st ft. A resident, Ahmed, who was one of the first to reach the spot when he saw the blaze, alerted the control room and helped the employees escape. However, six personnel including three fire officers were injured while tackling the blaze and are in hospital. The godown is located in a congested residential area, and police personnel were deployed to evacuate residents as thick black smoke engulfed the area. ‘Barrels started exploding’ Though the cause of the accident is not clear yet, a preliminary investigation revealed that one of the barrels containing the chemical fell down and caught fire. It started to spread to other barrels which began to explode, said fire officials. They admitted that the outcome would have been much worse as there were a few cylinders in the godown, but they were removed before the fire spread. Today, around 2:45 pm in the afternoon a fire broke out in the popular Sukh Sagar Hotel, located in the crowded area of Gandhinagar, Bengaluru. Horrific visuals being played on local TV channels captured high flames and thick black smoke coming out of the terrace Fire accident in Bengaluru at Sukh Sagar Hotel in densely populated Gandhinagar The fire at the Sukh Sagar Hotel's top floor, adjacent to a mall was reported around 2:45 pm today. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported. As soon as the fire was visible workers ran out of the hotel with customers. A short circuit seemed to have caused a spark to flare up and as seen in the video the fire spread across the building. Emergency services were also called in and two fire engines were rushed to the site of the incident. They were able to extinguish the fire in four hours. For safety purposes, adjacent buildings were also cleared out and overall no casualties were reported. Police Inspector Ravi was on his way towards freedom park bandobast when he spotted the smoke and alerted the public and police. The Upparapet police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations.
