Carboplatin belongs to a class of medications known as platinum-containing compounds. It works by stopping or slowing the growth of cancer cells. Carboplatin is used in adults in combination with other cancer treatments to treat Carboplatin is also used in adults who have advanced ovarian carcinoma, where ovarian cancer has returned following prior chemotherapy, and are receiving palliative care (treatment to relieve suffering and improve quality of life during a serious illness).
