Chhattisgarh Election 2023: Will TS Singh Deo Will Be Next Congress CM? Bhupesh Baghel's Big Statement

Chhattisgarh, along with four other states, will go to the assembly elections by the end of this year. Chhattisgarh saw a brief intra-party clash two years ago when current Health Minister TS Singh Deo reportedly revolted claiming shared Chief Ministership formula of 2.5 years each for him and Baghel. However, while there was a flare-up between both leaders, Singh Deo never openly claimed the position. Now, with only five months left for the state assembly elections, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has made a big remark on the next Congress CM face. Speaking to a news channel, Baghel said that traditionally Congress fights elections in the face of the sitting Chief Minister. When posed about him being the Chhattisgarh poll campaign and CM face, Baghel said that the face is clear not only in his state but in Rajasthan as well. "You know the CM face in Rajasthan as well....Gehlot ji is the senior leader and he will be Congress party's face. Any party, be it Congress or the BJP, mostly it's the CM who is made the poll campaign face. When in opposition, then the election is fought on the face of collective leadership," said Baghel. It may be recalled that the Congress party has already intensified structural reorganisation works given the assembly polls and next year's Lok Sabha elections. According to reports, there is a large possibility of reshuffling of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) which is the party's top decision-making body. The CWC rejig has been pending for a lo...

Uttarakhand election: Chhattisgarh CM exudes confidence in Cong's win, slams ruling BJP

Speaking ahead of the counting day, Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel also commented on the leadership situation in the state and said that the Congress party’s MLAs and high command will make the final decision. “We'll form govt with majority in Uttarakhand. MLAs will choose their leader and the party's high command will decide it,” Baghel said in Dehradun. Further accusing the ruling BJP of influencing MLAs in the past, he said, “BJP in the past has tried to break MLAs through money and by using its agencies. We'll ensure this doesn't happen.” The Chhattisgarh CM’s comments came after incumbent Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami exuded confidence of a BJP win in the state. CM Dhami confident of BJP's victory Following the release of exit polls for the Uttarakhand election 2022 on Monday, March 7, incumbent CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said that he was confident about the BJP forming the government in the state. Exuding confidence in forming the government once again, Dhami said that the party will win more seats than predicted by the exit polls. He further claimed that the people of Uttarakhand has given a ‘certificate’ for the development the BJP government has brought in the state. READ | Exit Polls for Uttarakhand Election 2022 According to P-MARQ exit polls, the BJP is expected to get 35-39 seats, whereas their primary competitor, the Congress Party is expected to give a strong fight winning 28-34 seats in Uttarakhand. Chhattisgarh bypoll: CM Baghel promises district within 24 hours but only if Congress wins

Express News Service RAIPUR: “Save the Date” -- the message by the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on his Twitter handle -- apparently refers to an unusual pledge as he attempts to gain the trust of voters ahead of the Khairagarh Assembly bypoll. The CM has promised a new district provided the constituency elects a Congress candidate as their legislator on April 12, the day of polling. “On April 16, 2022 Khairagarh will get Congress MLA. On April 17 Khairagarh-Chuikhadan-Gandai will become a (new) district,” Baghel tweeted. The counting of votes will take place on April 16 The promise on creating a new district is among the 29 other pledges the Congress has cited in its “Ghoshna Patra” (party’s poll declaration). The opposition BJP has accused the CM of trying to strike a “deal” with voters. “Why the creation of a new district conditional on result? So, if the Congress loses, then Khairagarh will not become a district? Bhupesh Baghel should announce now to make every Assembly constituency in the state as a district ahead of next year's Vidhan Sabha elections,” quipped Vishnu Deo Sai, state BJP president. "The decision is the appreciation of the people's aspirations," the CM countered while addressing a rally. Khairagarh seat in Rajnandgaon district fell vacant following the demise of the sitting JCC (J) MLA Devvrat Singh, scion of the erstwhile royal family of Khairagarh, in November last year. The regional political outfit JCC (J) was floated by late ex-CM Ajit...
