Pro Bono & Community Impact Report (2022)

June 2023 We are pleased to share with you the latest edition of Blank Rome’s Pro Bono & Community Impact Report, which highlights various pro bono cases, clinics, client collaborations, and projects that our attorneys worked on last year to provide equal access to justice. It also spotlights our new Community Impact initiative and the many local projects that firm colleagues have participated in during the past several months. In particular, the Report explores our significant work surrounding key issues across the country, including voter protection and accessibility, criminal justice reform, and urgent immigration needs, as well as work on behalf of veterans, LGBTQ+ individuals, persons facing homelessness, senior citizens, children and families, and small business owners and nonprofits. Also featured in this Report: • Our 2022 pro bono year in review • Pro bono clinic client partnerships • Recognitions received by our firm and attorneys • Our corporate and community partners • And more! If you have any comments or suggestions, or would like to partner with Blank Rome on pro bono or community initiatives, please contact our Partner and Director of Pro Bono and Community Impact, Kathy Ochroch, at

Service and Eagle Scout Project Activity Reporting

Service and Eagle Scout Project Activity Reporting As part of the Journey to Excellence program provided by the Boy Scouts of America, units were asked to log any service hours that were provided by Scouts or adults using the Good Turn for America online reporting portal. The Good Turn for America website was retired in 2021 to simplify and consolidate reporting into Internet Advancement, a platform that Scouts and Scouters use more regularly. Internet Advancement captures unit and individual community service (and as of 8/10/2022 captures Eagle Scout service project information from Eagle Scout candidates) Eagle candidates can enter their project. When approved by the adult leader, it will be shown in the Activity Log Report. These logs are channeled into a comprehensive report titled the “Activity Log Report” (available for units in Internet Advancement) and the “Service Activity Report” (available for council professionals in my.Scouting), which can easily be downloaded for Journey to Excellence Reporting and use in reporting to the community (i.e., annual reports and communication with donors and stakeholders). The following guidance is provided to assist in getting started and successfully reporting service activity. Steps to Report Community Service and Download Reports 1. Complete a Unit or Individual Community Service Project Units can create service activity opportunities where members can engage in service to the community or individuals can complete service proj...

Community Service Project Report Volunteered at: Downtown Improvement District George Arnold (Executive Director) Phone: 814-238-7004 Email: [email protected] Group Members: • Alberto Martinez • Ayanna Harmon • Crystal Pendergast • Kaitlin Morton • Kylena Brooks (Team Leader) • Jacquelin Vera • Jared Torres • Oscar Agip The organization we conducted our community service project for was the Downtown Improvement District whose main purpose is to improve individual’s experience at Downtown State College. Their mission is to provide visitors, students, and residents with an enjoyable, clean, and safe environment. They have over 400 participating businesses supporting their annual events, promotions, and other projects to convince people that there is no better place than that of the streets of downtown. Overall, this project was interactive, fun, and enriching. It forced us all to step outside of ourselves and talk to people who we may have never talked to otherwise. The driving force behind our project was the chance to raise awareness and community involvement. For our project we volunteered for First Friday, which on the first Friday of every month promotes community involvement. It gives the members of the community the chance to come out and enjoy the city with everyone else and just have a genuinely good time. This also creates a feeling of pride in the community, knowing that every month there is an event that is open to everyone and has something for ev...
