MS Dhoni back at Chepauk for IPL 2023: CSK captain returns to Anbuden after four years

Chidambaram Stadium after four years (1426 days to be precise) amid rapturous welcome noise by the Chennai fans after Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul won the toss and opted to bowl against Chennai Super Kings at CSK's home Chepauk on April 3, 2023. For a city that usually celebrates the film releases of big Kollywood stars, Dhoni's return to Chepauk after four seasons feels much more special, and one that everyone wants to be a part of. Dhoni has seen it all in his 16-year IPL career, winning multiple titles, CSK being banned for two years in between, and handing over the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja before resuming it at CSK. Chennai Super Kings won four IPL titles under MS Dhoni in 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021. The roar from the Chennai crowd when the 'Thala' comes out to bat best exemplifies CSK fans' affection for Dhoni. The noise is deafening even during a training session. Dhoni, who had a couple of big hits against Josh Little in Ahmedabad, will be hoping the batters perform well and don't leave much for him at the end. He'd like to start the scoring in front of an adoring Chepauk crowd, but that would nec...
