This is a companion volume to the Khasi-English Dictionary by the some author which was published by Government in 1900. In his letter dated the 1st February 1907 to Government the author wrote : — “ So far as the arrangement of the English words is concerned, 1 claim no originality in the matter ; they have been put down %s they are in an ordinary popular English Dictionary. The pronunoia.. at in English have specially wen given to meet the wants of Kha i students." Agreeably to the sanction oonveyed in Government letter No. 41450., dated the 30th March 1907, the late U Nissor Singh prepared the manuscript of this Dictionary whioh was revised by a Committee composed of the following gentlemen — ! The English-Khasi dictionary by U.Nissor Singh, eminent educationist and lexicographer, is a companion volume to the author' Khasi-English Dictionary published in 1906. The manuscript of the dictionary originally prepared by the author was thoroughly revised by a committee of specialists before it was printed. In addition to Khasi euivalents and meanings, all English words are respelt in round brackets () immediately following, with symbols to facilitate pronounciation. The book supplies a long-felt want and will serve as a handy, compact reference too for all students of Khasi language.
