PUNE: The city traffic police will track the palkhis of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj online and update live feeds on their website, allowing citizens to plan their commutes. The palkhis will arrive in Pune city on June 12. On many roads, vehicular movement will be temporarily disallowed. Deputy commissioner of police (DCP-traffic) Vijay Magar said, “We will take the necessary steps to facilitate vehicular movement in the city, especially on June 12 when the palkhis reach. They will arrive from the old Mumbai-Pune highway and Alandi Road.” He added, “The approach roads of palkhis will be shut or blocked for motorists, while only sections of roads from where the processions cross will be open for commuters. This is being done to avert traffic jams.” PMRDA Metro to remove and shift barricades Following a meeting with the Pune city police, PMRDA Metro officials have agreed to remove barricades from the carriage width of Ganeshkhind Road in Shivajinagar to facilitate palkhi movement.
