Hindustan Zinc Declares Interim Dividend of Rs 21 Per Share; Key Details For Investors

Vedanta group firm “We wish to inform you that the Board of Directors of the Company through resolution passed by circulation on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 have approved Interim Dividend of Rs 21 per equity share i.e. 1050 per cent on face value of Rs 2 per share for the financial year 2022-23 amounting to Rs 8,873.17 crores," the regulatory filing stated. The interim dividend will be paid within stipulated timelines as prescribed under law, the exchange filing further noted. The record date for payment of the dividend would be July 21 and the dividend would paid within the stipulated timeline, the company said. The disclosure came days after Hindustan Zinc reported a 14 per cent increase in mined metal production to 2,52,000 tonnes during the first quarter of FY23. The refined metal production in the first quarter of the current fiscal was at 260,000 tonnes, registering a rise of 10 per cent as compared to Q1 FY22 in line with availability of mined metal and better plant availability and flat sequentially, it had said. Hindustan Zinc Dividend: Vedanta group firm Hindustan Zinc has announced to pay an interim dividend to its shareholders. The company while releasing its Q3 results on Thursday, January 19, said that the board has approved third interim dividend of the current fiscal. The company informed that the record date for eligibility of the third interim dividend will be declared on Monday, January 30, 2023. According to the BSE filing of Hindustan Zinc, “Board have approved third interim dividend of Rs. 13/- per equity share i.e. 650 per cent on face value of Rs. 2/- per share for the Financial Year 2022-23 amounting to Rs. 5,493 Crores. The record date for the purpose of payment of third interim dividend, as already communicated is Monday, January 30, 2023. The Third interim dividend will be paid within stipulated timelines as prescribed under law." Shares of HINDZINC traded higher on Friday. At about 2 pm, the shares of Hindustan Zinc Limited were trading at Rs 310.95 apiece, up two per cent. In Q3FY23, the quarter ending December 2022, Hindustan Zinc said that the total mined metal production of the company in Q3FY23 increased one percent to 2,54,000 tonnes on a (YoY) year-on-year basis. Hindustan Zinc Ltd, a Vedanta Group firm, on March 21, announced a fourth interim dividend of Rs. 10985.83 Crores to its shareholders, according to an exchange filing. The firm said its board approved a dividend of Rs 26 a share or 1300 percent for the financial year 2022-23. It fixed the record date for the dividend as March 29. "Board of Directors of the Company in its meeting held on March 21, 2023 have approved Fourth interim dividend of Rs 26/- per equity share i.e. 1300 percent on face value of Rs. 2/- per share for the Financial Year 2022-23 amounting to Rs 10985.83 Crores," the regulatory filing stated. The interim dividend will be paid within stipulated timelines as prescribed under law, the exchange filing further noted. In January 2023, the firm had announced an interim dividend of Rs 13 a share. Dividend by top 10 payers more than doubles in FY23; TCS tops the table

The 10 biggest payers together shelled out Rs 2.06 trillion for FY23, more than double the Rs 98,371 crore for FY22. In comparison with TCS, mining and metal producer Vedanta was on top of the dividend league table for FY22 with Rs 16,681 crore. Hindustan Zinc is 65 per cent owned by Vedanta and as such a significant portion of dividend payout by the latter is nothing but its dividend income from its subsidiary. The analysis is based on annual dividend payouts by a common sample of 1,075 listed firms that are part of the BSE 500, BSE Mid-cap and BSE Small Cap indices. These companies together paid a record dividend of Rs 3.94 trillion for FY23, up 32.1 per cent Y-o-Y over the Rs 2.98 trillion in FY22. In comparison, these companies’ combined net profits were up 5 per cent Y-o-Y to Rs 10.95 trillion in FY23. (See charts.) Hindustan Zinc has announced its fourth interim dividend for FY23. The Anil Agarwal-led company announced dividend of Rs 26 per share, totalling Rs 10,986 crore. This is in addition to Rs 13 per share dividend the metals & mining company it announced in January, Rs 15.50 per share dividend it paid in November and Rs 21 interim dividend it went for in July last year. With this dividend, Hindustan Zinc has announced Rs 75.50 per share dividend in FY23 so far. The dividend announced by the world's second-largest integrated zinc producer and sixth-largest silver producer globally will help Vedanta earn Rs 7,132 crore in dividend payout on 2,74,31,54,310 shares it held in the company as of December-end. Vedanta held 64.92 per cent stake in Hindustan Zinc as of December 31. Recently, reports emerged that the Centre was upset about Vedanta's proposal to sell international zinc assets, as it felt the move would hinder and distort the government's plan to dispose its residual stake in Hindustan Zinc.
