Vine Hawkmoth (Hippotion celerio)

The body and the wings of Hippotion celerio green and ochre. Forewing upper side with lower edge of the discal cell highlighted in white and black, it has small black discal spot with silvery white dots and streaks, with a silvery band running obliquely on the forewing. The hindwing is red near the tornus and pinkish on the other part. The larvae is green, yellow, to dark brown. The head is round and dull green in color. It has long and straight horn. There is big yellow and green eye spot on the third segment, while on the four segment smaller in size.

A rare immigrant species, rarely occurring in more than a handful of records, and in some years not at all. The hindwing has pinkish area near the base where it adjoins the body. The cylindrical abdomen tapers to a point. The wings are held in a tent shape over the body when the moth at rest.
