Parts of northwest and central India are bracing for another spell of extreme heat. Temperatures in parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Vidarbha are likely to jump to 46°C. Delhi has been issued a yellow alert, as the temperature is expected to soar to 44°C. And it’s not likely to get better anytime soon. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the heatwave is expected to last until 15 May. But the good news is that, there’s always someplace to escape the sweltering heat in India. Here’s a look at the hottest and coolest places. Hottest places in India Last Friday, temperatures in Banda, Uttar Pradesh rose above 47°C, making it the hottest place in the country. The temperature is expected to rise to 46°C towards the end of the week once again. Ahmedabad in Gujarat was one the hottest places in India this week at 44°C - 45°C in the afternoons. Temperatures remain high in Maharashtra—it’s 41°C in Nagpur and 32°C in Mumbai. The temperatures in Ranthambore are at 42°C and can go up to 46°C by the end of the week. Pench and Tadboda range from 40°C to 43°C through the rest of the week. And while it’s very hot, this may be your best chance to spot a big cat before some parks shut for the monsoon season. Odisha: Bhubaneswar 'hottest' place in world, records season's highest temperature

By Mohammad Suffian: Scorching heatwave continued to hit Odisha on Wednesday, making the capital city Bhubaneswar the 'hottest' place in the world as it recorded season’s highest temperature at 44.2 degree Celsius on Wednesday, the Bhubaneswar-based Meteorological Centre said. According to the data provided by www.ogimet.com, Baripada in Mayurbhanj district was second hottest in the state with 44.6 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. Odisha's capital Bhubaneswar broke a 73-year-old record when the maximum temperature reached to 44.2 degree Celsius on Wednesday, the highest recorded temperature for the month of March ever since its formation as the state capital and establishment of the Meteorological Centre in 1948. Bhubaneswar recorded 44.2 degrees Celsius topping the list of hottest cities, the weather department said. "Bhubaneswar city has broken its earlier record of 42.2 degrees Celsius on March 21, 2016," senior meteorologist of the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar Uma Shankar Das told India Today, adding that it is due to the hot and dry wind from the west. “While the dry wind is now blowing in the lower atmosphere and there is less moisture in the air, the surface temperature has considerably gone up," he said.
