India vs South Africa 2nd Test highlights: Elgar shines as South Africa level series 1

KL Rahul: Every Test match we play we feel we should win and want to win. That's the kind of team we are, we compete hard and we leave everything on the field. So yes a bit disappointing but credit to the way South Africa played. They really batted well and bowled well. The pitch was up and down but like I said, the South African batters were really determined and got the job done. If I have to be really harsh, after winning the toss we could have put 60-70 runs more. Shardul's had a great Test match. In the few Test matches he has played, he has created that impact and won us games. Dean Elgar: The basics of batting bowling, and batting don't go away, we missed that in the first game. Having said that, it wasn't easy. As a bowling unit, the Indians were on top at times. Massive respect to our bowling unit, they showed a lot of character. Always a privilege to represent your country. I would like to think the knocks I take make me extra motivated to perform. We struggled to get a stable batting line-up, and we had to be very patient. We've entrusted those positions to guys we feel can perform those roles, and great to see them pull it off. Elgar finishes off in style, with a boundary off Ashwin. He remains unbeaten on 95. A seven-wicket win for the hosts. They have beaten India for the first time in a Test at the Wanderers. The series is level at 1-1 with all to play at Cape Town. Chasing 240 in these conditions and against this Indian attack wasn't going to be easy but El...

Earlier in the third session, Jasprit Bumrah picked up a fifer after a brief rearguard from Kagiso Rabada and Duanne Olivier saw the host add 31 runs for the last two wickets. South Africa was bowled out for 210 runs, conceding a 13-run first innings lead, as the diminutive Keegan Petersen stood tall with a fighting 166-ball 72. The match heads into the third day evenly poised, with India 70 runs ahead and the South African pace cartel raring to go and deny India its maiden Test series win in the country. IND 57/2 in 17 overs: Ngidi to bowl the last over of the day. Kohli farms the strike with grit, leaving and defending confidently on and outside off. Stumps! IND 57/2 in 16 overs: Pujara negotiates the first over of spin from Maharaj with ease. Looks to get the last one away with a shimie down the pitch but the drive goes straight to mid on. IND 57/2 in 15 overs: FOUR LEG-BYES! Ngidi goes down leg and the ball runs away...

Meanwhile, we've got some post-match content for you to chew on. Do watch out for pieces from Karthik Krishnaswamy and Firdose Moonda. Look forward to your company again very soon. Until then, this is Shashank Kishore and Saurabh Somani signing off on behalf of the rest of our crew: Chandan Duroah, Hemant Brar and Vishal Dikshit. Many thanks once again. Cheers Petersen: I don't know how I feel, it hasn't sunk in yet. Happy, emotional but just grateful to have had the opportunity. I took every little positive I can from every innings and build on that. It's been a tough journey, not easy. Have had to stick to my guns and fight it out. It's been a long journey, can't really tell the whole story right now. It's not been easy even coming into Tests; challenging wickets, changing conditions, have had to deal with what has been in front of me. We've always had to tough it out against a high-quality bowling attack, high-quality team. Just spending time at the wicket is crucial. Evident longer you bat, easier it gets. I enjoyed every moment of it. Elgar on Petersen: "He's dominated domestic cricket, awesome to see him have a great series. Long may he grow, there's lot of improvement from his point of view. World is his oyster. Even though he's someone older, he's winning to learn. He's a proper character within that team environment. Proud of what he has achieved." Dean Elgar: Pretty elated, I think it will sink in in a day or two, maybe this evening. Couldn't be prouder of the gr...

A summary of his remarkable knock 🔽 Shikhar Dhawan:"Worked perfectly well for us, thanks to Keshav that he chose to bat (smiles). It was coming on nicely, but it stayed low. Plan was to take on the bowlers in the first 10 overs as we knew it could get difficult in the middle overs. When the dew came, you could see that it got easier. Very satisfied with the bowling unit, they are all young and these are good learnings for them. Especially Shahbaz." Ishan Kishan: "When I was fielding they (fans in Ranchi) were asking me to get a hundred today, unfortunately I missed it. No worries, I'm just happy that my team won the game today and maybe ...

Highlights, IND vs SA 2nd ODI: South Africa beat India by 7 wickets to take unassailable 2

South Africa clinch the ODI series in a rather comfortable fashion with still a game to go. The dressing room erupts and full credit to this South African unit for their brilliant performance. They have chased down this total with ease and have carried the momentum they gained in the Test series into this ODI series. India will be disappointed with their effort with the ball especially after a decent performance with the bat earlier in the day. Indian spinners have been outbowled by the South African spinners in both the games and as a result, India have been beaten comprehensively in this ODI series. So the post-Kohli era in ODIs has started on a poor note for India. Right then! This is all we have from this second ODI and the series now moves to Newlands, Cape Town for the third and final ODI. The series is already sealed by South Africa but India would like to avoid a whitewash here. The final ODI will take place on Sunday, 23rd December and the action starts at 2.00 pm IST (8.30 am GMT). But as you know, our coverage will start well in advance. So do join us for the same. Till then, goodbye and cheers! KL Rahul, the Indian skipper says that South Africa is playing good cricket at home and they are making some mistakes and it needs to be looked upon. He says that it is a learning curve for them.
