Kanpur (UP), Apr 14 (PTI) The Uttar Pradesh Police has attached 30 bighas (18.5 acres) of land in Unnao district — estimated to be worth Rs 30 crore and belonging to jailed history-sheeter Ejaz alias Ajjan and builder Wasi — under the Gangster Act, an official said on Friday. Both Ejaz and Wasi are close aides of jailed Samajwadi Party MLA Irfan Solanki. A flat worth Rs 75 lakh owned by Irfan Solanki’s sister-in-law Shaheena Solanki, two weapons and an SUV have also been seized under the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, the official added. The police have also seized two bank accounts of Irfan Solanki’s brother. Immovable assets worth over Rs 90 crore have been attached since February 10, said Pheel-Khana police station SHO Sunil Kumar Singh. The latest seizure proceedings were conducted on Thursday under heavy police presence, he added. “We have seized three bighas of land worth Rs 3 crore owned by Ejaz and his son Asad Ejaz and another 27 bighas estimated to be worth about Rs 27 crore owned by Wasi and his son Abdur Rahman. Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) of Kanpur Anand Prakash Tiwari said Ishtiyaq Solanki was arrested from the Jajmau area when he was trying to flee from the city. A case of extortion was registered based on a complaint by Nasim Arif, a resident of Kanghi-Mohal in Bajaria, lodged at the Jajmau police station on May 9 against Ishtiyaq Solanki, Adil Rasheed, Shakil Beg and another person, the police officer said. Nasim Arif alleged that Ishtiyaq Solanki and his aides demanded that he hand over a plot of land to them and also gave him death threat. Irfan Solanki, the Samajwadi Party MLA from Sisamau in Kanpur, has been in prison since December 2, when he along with his younger brother Rizwan Solanki surrendered before the police after being booked for rioting and arson in a land dispute case. KANPUR Police has formed a team under ASP Mrigank Shekhar Pathak to probe the 13 complaints filed against Samajwadi Party MLA Irfan Solanki, who is currently in jail for allegedly harassing and setting the house of a woman on fire in a bid to capture her land located in Posh Colony area of the city. The four-time MLA and his younger brother Rizwan surrendered before the police two days ago, after absconding for around a month. Solanki won from Sishamau Assembly seat in Kanpur on a Samajwadi Party ticket in March this year. The 13 complaints, including that of criminal intimidation, money dispute and land grabbing, were filed when the MLA was on the run. As per Kanpur Police record, there are 11 cases against Solanki and the investigation in four cases is pending.

Kanpur: Police on Tuesday arrested Ishtiaq Solanki, uncle of jailed Naseem Arif, a resident of Beconganj Kanghi Mohal area of the city, had lodged an FIR against SP MLA Irfan Solanki, his uncle Ishtiaq Solanki, brother Rizwan Solanki and their aides Asif Dalal, Shabbir Hussain, Abdul Moid and 15-16 unknown persons at the Jajmau police station on December 6, 2022. Naseem had stated in the complaint that the SP MLA Irfan, his uncle and brother and others had forcibly occupied 200 square yards of his 500 square metre of plot in the Jajmau area. When he resisted, Rizwan had thrashed him severely at a gunpoint. He filed a complaint, but the police did not register an FIR, he alleged. "When Irfan was sent to jail, he (Arif) had lodged an FIR at the Jajmau police station against him (Irfan), his uncle Ishtiaq, brother Rizwan and others for land grab, assault and death threats," he added.

On December 11, four members of the Bangladeshi family living illegally in Kanpur were arrested for allegedly carrying fake documents, while a juvenile was apprehended. The police seized 13 fake passports, five Aadhaar cards, education certificates, foreign currency, gold ornaments and more than Rs 14 lakh cash from them. Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Anand Prakash Tiwari said police investigation confirmed that the jailed MLA had issued certificates to the family which were used to obtain the Indian documents.
