June 2023: Punjab and Haryana High Court have put the allotments of seven residential plots and four commercial sites in Aravali green belt between DLF-1 and Sector-42 on hold. The green belt in Sector 26A lies under the Aravali Plantation, which is preserved under the Central Forest (Conservation) Act. The allotment of the green belt has been allotted to a school and nursing home. BPCL, or Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, issued the orders on a petition for this on May 13. The next hearing is lined-up for September 13. The site was first given out in 2015 to a petrol pump. But it was cancelled due to a petition by the RWA. The HSVP opposed the order and e-auctioned the belt in 2023. DLF 1 residents had written to CM earlier this year against the HSVP’s plans for auctioning some sites on the green belt for residential, educational and medical uses. The sites comprise the ones between DLF 1 E block and Sector 42 that lie under the Aravali plantation.
