belgaum: the karnataka branch of the indian red cross association has decided to start junior red cross in the state, said dr d.m. nanjundappa, vice-president of the karnataka branch of the indian red cross here on wednesday. dr nanjundappa who was speaking at a meeting of members of the board management of the red cross in belgaum said, developing service mindedness among school children would be the focus of the junior red cross. dr nanjundappa asked all heads and managements of schools of belgaum district to register their schools under junior red cross programme. he said, the students of these schools would be considered as the members of the association. the red cross association will give free trainning to students on first aid during emergencies. the indian red cross will give instruments to physically handicapped persons, nanjundappa said, and asked the belgaum branch to give the names of physically handicapped persons. nanjundappa suggested, members of the red cross should start a blood bank to give free blood to the poor. the central red cross association had awarded four president's medals to the state red cross for sending medicines and goods worth about rs 1.5 crore for earthquake victims of gujarat. anjum parvez, executive officer of belgaum zilla panchayat and other senior officers were also present. 500 from belgaum for bjp meet: suresh angadi, president of belgaum district rural bjp unit said here, about 500 activists from belgaum district would attend the...
