Latest News on KMC Property Tax (May 2023) KMC Property Tax Increased, Governor Assent Property Tax Bill June 13, 2023: Governor of Kolkata has officially agreed to a bill that proposes to increase the KMC property tax. A proposal to increase the Kolkata property tax by 5% every year was suggested in a statement. The municipal department published the bill in The Kolkata Gazette, Extraordinary. However, the hike will be implemented on the bill if the property owner does not sign up for the unit area assessment system. The new property tax rates are effective from June 9. The amendment reads: “Till the new valuation is made after final publication of the scheme, existing tax as mentioned in this sub-section may be increased every year, on and from the date of final publication of the scheme, by such percentage not exceeding five per cent. It will be adjusted once the owner shifts to the unit area assessment system. Any extra payments will be adjusted once the person has signed up for the unit area system.” KMC Extends Rebate Date for KMC Property Tax May 2023: Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has decided to extend the rebate date for KMC property tax by seven days. The decision to extend the date was taken after receiving several complaints from the citizens as they could not pay the KMC property tax.
