Kolkata Traffic Police has formulated a new ‘One Time Traffic Fine Settlement Scheme’ which would give vehicle owners an opportunity to clear their long pending traffic fines at a discounted rate in two phases, city police commissioner Rajeev Kumar said Wednesday. “The scheme will come into force from December 1 and will remain operational up to upto February 13 next year. The people will have the opportunity to clear the pending backlog of traffic cases registered up to November 15,” Kumar told reporters at the Lal Bazar Kolkata Police headquarters. The first phase of the scheme will be operational from December 1 and continue till January 14 next year. During it people will have to pay 35 per cent of the total dues and be eligible for 65 percent waiver, the CP stated. The second phase will be operational from January 15 next year to February 13 when people will have to pay 50 per cent of the total dues and be eligible for 50 per cent waiver,” Kumar elaborated. Breaking News on June 15 The fine amount can be paid both online and offline. The online payment can be made through official website of Kolkata Traffic Police and Kolkata Police. Kolkata Police introduce “One Time Traffic Fine Settlement Scheme”

Kolkata Police have come up with an innovative solution to collect pending traffic fines from motorists. The “One Time Traffic Fine Settlement Scheme” will allow vehicle owners to pay all of their outstanding fines at a discounted rate. The scheme, which comprises of two phases, will start on December 1, 2018 and remain operational till February 13, 2019. Motorists will have the opportunity to clear all traffic cases registered up to November 15, 2018. Phase 1 of the scheme will run from December 1, 2018 until January 14, 2019. During this 45-day span, vehicle owners will only have to pay 35 percent of their total dues. The remaining 65 percent of the fines will be waived off. Similarly, Phase 2 will be operational from January 15, 2019 to February 13, 2019, where people will have to pay 50 percent of their total pending fines. The remaining 50 percent shall be waived off by the Kolkata Police. Motorists can pay their fines online on the Kolkata Traffic Police website or offline at all the 25 traffic guards and at Lal Bazar as well. 'One Time Traffic Fine Settlement' scheme garners huge response

Kolkata: Kolkata Police received approximately Rs 10.5 crore after 19 days of One Time Traffic Fine Settlement Scheme. On Wednesday, Commissioner of Police, Kolkata, Rajeev Kumar informed they have got a great response from people after the scheme was started. According to the sources, around 28 lakhs cases were settled. The actual amount of those cases was approximately Rs 30 crore. According to the trend, each day approximately Rs 1 crore is being collected from 26 counters opened in 25 traffic guards and Kolkata Police headquarter at Lalbazar. "We have got a great response. Expecting that till end of the scheme all the cases will be disposed of," said a high ranked police official of Kolkata Police. Officials also informed that there is no provision of extension of the scheme. The scheme is strictly for one time as per the government notification. It was also informed that many people whose cases have been sent to the court want to clear using the scheme. But that is not possible as it is only for those cases which are not listed with the concerned court. Sources informed that on seeing the response, all the traffic guards have been asked to communicate with the vehicle owners which are on the list sent by the Traffic department and ask them to submit the fine and properly inform them about the scheme.
