The lake is now 4km long and 3km wide, but remains shallow and dries up completely during severe droughts. A stroll around beautiful Ghats of Lake Pichola

After watching so many movies with scenes from ghats of Udaipur lakes and especially Lake Pichola, I was waiting to take a walk around these Ghats. The best part was that we were staying in a hotel around Lal ghat of Lake Pichola - . This blogpost shares about almost all ghats from Lal Ghat till Ambrai ghat which make a horse shoe kind of shape. Earlier I thought that all these ghats around Lake Pichola are connected and one was walk around the ghats while enjoying different views of the lake and it's surrounding. But that's not the case. There is no walking path around the lake, and this is something I would highly recommend to Udaipur Smart-city authority to consider as it can be great way to enjoy the lake views. And Udaipur plans to build something like that, vehicles/cycles ideally should not be allowed on this pathway so that people can walk comfortably. Apart from that cleanness would be the key. Certainly there should be business opportunities for small vendors & artists on this pathway to keep the environment alive. From tourism standpoint, I lot more can be done on this front. We started our walk from Lal Ghat. Above photograph shows the view on right side when we were standing near Lal Ghat and facing the Lake Pichola. This ghat was closed during the pandemic otherwise, this is also one of the pickup point for boats hovering in the lake Pichola. There was still lot of action around Lal Ghat. This ghat and it's neighbourhood is popular for it's rooftop cafes whic...

Lake Pichola (Udaipur)

Lake Pichola, Udaipur is an artificial lake. Situated adjacent to City Palace, the lake has beautiful surroundings and attractions for tourists. The lake houses famous Taj Lake Palace hotel and islands like Jag Mandir and Jag Niwas within the lake. Post visit of City Palace, we had gone for an afternoon boat ride @ Rs. 500 per pax, however at evening the rate increases. The boat ride was enjoyable under cool breeze, it took us through the lake and by the side of hotels, ghats, etc. and dropped at Jag Mandir and return. One may spend sufficient time at Jag Mandir Island, but the place doesn’t offer anything of special interest, barring few restaurants. In short, a visit and boat ride at Lake Pichola is a must do activity at Udaipur. Lake Pichola is the best lake to watch sunset in Udaipur. Best Time slot to visit: 1 Hour before the sun goes down( e.g in summer 6 Pm, winters 5 pm) . If you want boat ride or visit karni mata temple then come early. Activities: Roam around lake, Boat ride, take ride to karni mata temple(through rope way), take pictures and enjoy sunset with yourself, partner, family or friend. Visiting Fees: Free of cost Boat ride cost: 300 INR ( You can avoid boat ride in my opinion because boat ride with city palace is better and you get to see the Jagmandir as well. Most best attractions in Udaipur are around the Pichola Lake area, so you will see it from a few angles. No doubt, it is lovely to have lunch or dinner on one of the countless roof-top restauran...
