Lenovo Tab P12 Pro review

The Lenovo Tab P12 Pro is good, but it’s not great – especially in the cut-throat Android tablet market. This fairly powerful tablet has a high-res screen and a stylus, which comes in handy for certain tasks; but it misses out on a few killer features that it could really use, both on the software and hardware fronts. Price and availability Design Display Performance, specs and cameras Battery life Review scorecard Should I buy it? While conducting the testing for this Lenovo Tab P12 Pro review, we couldn’t help but wish we were using the company’s • Lenovo Tab P12 Pro at Amazon for $579 Perhaps the key feature of the P12 Pro is the screen; we say that because it’s literally in the name. The P12 Pro has a 12-inch screen that uses AMOLED tech and has a 2K resolution, which looks good and turns the Tab into a great tool for streaming video and playing games. (Image credit: Future) You can think of the Lenovo Tab as a rival to Samsung’s line of Android tablets – the P12 Pro sits between the Galaxy Tab S8 and Tab S8 Plus in terms of price and size, and like those two, the Lenovo has a good-looking screen, a top-end chipset and a stylus. But the Lenovo Tab doesn’t have any killer features that would elevate it above its competitors. Samsung slates come with powerful chipsets and useful note apps that make the stylus quick to use; iPads come with the useful iPadOS operating system and a much wider selection of apps; and Fire tablets are tied into the Amazon ecosystem and much lo...

It even includes a built-in trackpad, making it possible to get a good amount of work done. You can also use it with the Lenovo Precision Pen 3, so you can write, draw, and take notes on the lower-latency screen. The pen attaches magnetically to the slate and charges wirelessly. Continuing its Android tablet lineup, Lenovo is today introducing a new “flagship” model. The Lenovo Tab P12 Pro brings upgraded specs, another big display, and a neat new software trick, too. The Lenovo Tab P12 Pro has a 12.6-inch OLED display at 2560×1600. Lenovo says the tablet boasts an 89% screen-to-body ratio and has a 120Hz refresh rate. The tablet also has four speakers tuned by JBL, an 8MP camera for video calls and face unlock, as well as a 13MP + 5MP ultrawide pair for the rear. A fingerprint sensor is also built into the power button. Under the hood, the P12 Pro has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor that’s paired with either 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage or 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Here's what Android 12L looks like on the Lenovo P12 Pro

Google’s efforts to let Android better serve bigger screens is culminating in Android 12L, but the What does the Lenovo P12 Pro offer? The Lenovo P12 Pro is, as mentioned above, the one and only tablet currently supported for the Android 12L developer previews and beta program. And really, I think Lenovo pretty much nailed it. The hardware here feels premium, and the size is a decent compromise between a massive screen and feeling too big, as I often feel with tablets over 11-inches. The Lenovo P12 Pro has great speakers, a good accessory lineup, and the performance on its stock Android 11 build was more than acceptable in my time testing it out. • • Note: Lenovo says its stylus doesn’t work on 12L, and the keyboard is limited too But the point of attraction for the P12 Pro right now is that it supports Android 12L. Does Android 12L improve the experience at all? The real question with Android 12L at this point is if it’s going to manage to improve the experience at all. As it stands today, stock Android is not very well suited to big screens, but changes in 12L are meant to address that. In this very early state, it’s hard to see how much of a difference Android 12L will make on a tablet like the Lenovo P12 Pro. These early builds are fully stock, and frankly aren’t well optimized for the hardware. Despite running natively, it feels like I’m running software that wasn’t designed for this tablet at all, with small icons and a clock that’s buried in the bezel really detract...
