How to use Magic Eraser on your iPhone with Google Photos

While the Magic Eraser tool is now part of the Google Photos app for iPhone, it's still tied to Google One. To put it another way, if you want to keep any changes that Magic Eraser makes to your photos, you'll need to sign up for a Google One membership, with subscriptions starting at $1.99/month for 100GB of storage. (Image: © Tom's Guide) If there's an object or person that Magic Eraser didn't highlight that you want to remove, just draw a circle with your finger around the targeted object or person. Magic Eraser will automatically remove your selection. Having tested Magic Eraser on multiple Pixel devices, I can tell you the feature works just as effectively on the iPhone. The tool's suggestions are usually pretty accurate, and while drawing a circle around an object to remove it isn't always precise, it can get the job done too. Google's flair for computational photography comes in handy here, too, as it replaces the unwanted object with a background that looks natural enough so that you wouldn't notice anything missing. On its own, Magic Eraser probably can't justify a recurring $1.99 cost. But that's not all you're getting with your Google One subscription. Besides the cloud storage, Google One includes portrait and HDR enhancement features, plus the ability to create collages; Google also offers free shipping for photo prints. Google's Magic Eraser photo tool is coming to iPhone

ihatescreennames said about 3 months ago How well does this tool work? I’ve used some ML tools for image editing that do a mostly decent job but sometimes a very poor job. For instance, in the example photo this article uses I would potentially see some sand smeared up into the surf where people used to be. I find these features are nowhere near as good as how they are portrayed. Additionally, Google One members can get free shipping on orders from the print store in the United States, Canada, the European Union, and the United Kingdom starting today. I’m very disappointed that Apple discontinued their print services directly inside Photos. We used that all the time. The replacements I’ve used (Mimeo and Motif) are OK, but clunky and more limited. There's a camera tool that can put an end to photobombers ruining your treasured pictures. The feature is called Magic Eraser. The tool gives you the power to remove unwanted items or people pulling focus from both new and old photos without compromising the background with a blur effect. Previously, Magic Eraser was only available to people with a Pixel 6, Pixel 6Aor Pixel 7phone, but Google announced via blog post that the feature is now available When you're trying to get that perfect image for Instagram, the rest of the world won't always notice you're taking a photo and could unintentionally end up in the background. The Magic Eraser feature should save you from awkwardly asking someone to move out of frame while giving you more control over what shows up in your pictures.

Google Magic Eraser cleans up your messy photo mistakes, and that's a bad thing

Ever since my Google Pixel 3a, I’ve consistently been impressed with the cameras on board Google's handsets, specifically the quality that can be squeezed out of historically modest hardware via intelligent image processing and AI-powered edits. And one of the most impressive tools to grace Google’s camera app is the Magic Eraser. Magic Eraser was launched with the Google Pixel 6 , and consequently rolled out to earlier models via a software update, The AI-powered Content-Aware Fill tool allows you to remove unwanted background objects automatically using subject detection, or manually by painting over them, plus a recent update to the tool added a subtler Camouflage mode that blends rather than erases. It’s Photoshop-style edits, on a phone. I primarily use my camera phone to document everyday life; portraits of my children, a snap of a vista while out on a walk, but definitely no food photos. Magic Eraser allows me to clean up those photos and make them perfect – or at least passable. But is that a good thing? Most authentic moments happen in a flash, when you don’t have the luxury of composing the shot perfectly, shifting your angle so the background looks better, or getting that second chance to catch the moment. And even given those luxuries, photo failures can happen, even to the best photographers. So surely Magic Eraser is a good thing? Don’t get me wrong – I want to make authentic pictures that also catch the eye, especially lovely portraits of my kids. I often ad...
