Maharashtra Gram Panchayat election 2022 result final: BJP

Voting for elections to 547 gram panchayats spread across 16 districts was held on Sunday. A total of 76 per cent turnout was recorded. The elections were held on non-party basis and the counting of votes was taken up on Monday. Besides elections to gram panchayats, direct polls for the post of village sarpanches were also held. In all, more than 50 per cent of the newly-elected sarpanches are supporters of the Shinde-BJP alliance, he said. "Gram panchayat results today have confirmed Maharashtra's faith in the Shinde-Fadnavis government," Bawankule said. BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis is the deputy chief minister in the Shinde-led government which took office in June-end. Shinde, along with 39 other MLAs, walked out of the Shiv Sena in June after raising a banner of revolt agianst the leadership of party president Uddhav Thackeray. Meanwhile, elections for 1,166 Gram Panchayat in Maharashtra will take place on October 13. The 1,166 Gram Panchayats are spread in 18 districts. The polling will take place to elect Sarpanch and Gram Panchayat members. Voting will be conducted in all the villages going to polls on October 13 from 7.30 am to 5:50 pm. In the Maoist-hit areas, polling will end at 3 pm. Counting of votes will take place on October 14. Bawankule, while speaking to reporters outside the Vidhan Bhavan complex, said as per the latest trends, BJP-backed gram panchayat candidates have won in more than 3,500 seats, and those supported by chief minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction were winning in more than 1,000 seats, reported PTI. However, State Congress chief Nana Patole accused the BJP of indulging in false propaganda about the election results. "The highest number of more than 900 sarpanch seats has gone to Congress alone. The number of sarpanch seats won by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is far more than the BJP," he said as quoted by PTI.

Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule said on Monday that 259 candidates endorsed by his party and 40 nominees supported by the Shiv Sena's Eknath Shinde faction were elected as sarpanches in the state's recent gram panchayat elections, news agency PTI reported. On Sunday, elections for 547 gramme panchayats distributed throughout 16 districts of the state were held. The elections were non-partisan, and the counting of ballots began on Monday. In addition to gram panchayat elections, direct polls for village sarpanches were held. Bawankule told a news conference that 259 sarpanches endorsed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had been elected.
