Now, in an emotionally-charged Humans of Bombay post, Manya is talking about her childhood struggles, her parent's belief in her dreams and the way she was criticised because of her looks. MANYA SINGH TALKS ABOUT HER JOURNEY IN AN EMOTIONAL POST In the post, Manya talked about how she left home at 14 to come to Mumbai and pursue her dreams. She had to work at a Pizza Hut store to earn an income. She said, "At 14, I boarded the train from my village & left for Mumbai to pursue my dreams, all by myself. I didn't know where it would lead me, but I knew I was meant to achieve great things. When I walked out of the station, Pizza Hut was the first place I sawI somehow got myself a part-time job there & temporary accommodation (sic)." “I am a desi chori, who is not scared of anything. I am entering the house with only excitement,” Manya Singh shared before entering the Bigg Boss 16 house. The Miss India runner-up is one of the 16 contestants on the Salman Khan-hosted show. In an interview with indianexpress.com, Manya revealed what made her sign the show. “I really want to earn a lot of money, that’s the prime reason for taking up the show. Other than that, I want people to recognise me. Priyanka Chopra is also a Miss India but people know her for who she is, not just in India but globally. That’s what I want,” she said. Born in Uttar Pradesh, Manya Singh ran away from home at the age of 14 in pursuit of a better life. Her parents followed suit to support her dreams. In December 2020, Manya had narrated her life's story to Miss India before the pageant finale. After she was announced Miss India 2020 runner-up, her inspiring story, struggles and sheer hard work have gone viral once again. She is also winning praises all over the internet. MANYA SINGH'S STORY Talking about her struggles, Manya revealed that she had to spend many nights without food and sleep. She could not attend school as she had to start working very early. She said, "All the clothes I had were hand-me-downs. I yearned for books, but luck wasn't in my favour. Eventually, my parents mortgaged whatever little jewellery my mother had to ensure that I paid my exam fees in order to earn a degree. My mother has suffered a lot to provide for me." She added, "At 14, I ran away from home. I somehow managed to complete my studies in the day, became a dishwasher in the evening, and worked at a call centre at night. I've walked hours to reach places so I could save the rickshaw fare." Manya also said that she decided to take part in the Miss India pageant to uplift her father, mother and younger brother, and "to show the world that all is possible if you are committed to yourself and your dreams."
