- New - Will come with upside-down forks - Is likely to cost around Rs 1.70 lakh Yamaha is set to launch the new R15 in India tomorrow, 21 September. The images of the upcoming motorcycle were leaked a while ago revealing the substantial upgrades it gets over the current R15 V3. To begin with, the Yamaha R15 will now come with inverted forks and golden-finished fork bottles. It will also feature a new front end that has been inspired by the YZF-R1 and R7. This includes a sharper fairing and more aggressive LED headlamps. The spy images also indicate that Yamaha would also introduce an ‘M’ version with a silver and blue colour scheme that replicates the bigger R1 M. Thanks to the leaked homologation documents, the new R15 will have the same 155cc engine but produce lesser power than the current model on sale. The R15 M is good for 18.1bhp as compared to the other variant’s 18.3bhp. The reason for this drop in output is unknown as of now. Nevertheless, with the addition of new features and styling, Yamaha is expected to bump up the prices of the R15 by at least Rs 10,000-Rs 15,000 over the current version costs Rs 1.57 lakh (ex-showroom). Featuring Bluetooth connectivity, it displays information such as gear position, ride modes, average speed, fuel efficiency and more. It also displays call and notification updates and phone battery level. Similar to the R15 V4, the 2022 MT-15 could also feature a USD suspension setup, offering better control at high speeds, cornering and braking, consequently improving the riding dynamics of the bike. The rear will feature the same linked-type monocross suspension setup. In addition to the VVA (Variable valve actuation) and assist and slipper clutch, we can expect the MT-15 to feature a quick shifter too, just like its sibling. In terms of styling, the 2022 MT-15 can get new colour schemes. It is expected to be launched later this year at a premium of around Rs 8,000-12,000. The current model is priced at Rs 1,47,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). • Duplicate Comment • Duplicate Comment by the same user • Irreleva...

So, what does the new bike get for the additional moolah? • • • • Yamaha is likely to equip the MT-15 Version 2.0 with a bunch of goodies derived from the We’d also prefer to see some cosmetic enhancements on the bike, perhaps, a Yamaha MT-03-inspired styling. What we can confirm is that the Japanese manufacturer is introducing four colours with the new model: White, Grey, Metallic Black and Racing Blue. The 2022 Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0 could be mechanically identical to the outgoing model, with the same VVA-equipped 155cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor producing 18.5PS and 13.9Nm. That said, having the R15 V4’s performance (18.4PS and 14.2Nm) should make the bike a tad more engaging. The Yamaha MT-15 enjoys a unique position in the Indian market with no direct rival. However, it faces competition from the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and KTM 125 Duke .
