नेपाल के प्रथम राष्ट्रपति डॉ. रामबरण यादव थे। जिन्होंने 23 जुलाई 2008 से 27 अक्टूबर 2015 तक नेपाल के प्रथम राष्ट्रपति के रूप में कार्यभार संभाला। इसके पूर्व रामबरण यादव नेपाली कांग्रेस सरकार में 1999 से 2001 तक स्वास्थ्य मंत्री तथा नेपाली कांग्रेस के महासचिव रह चुके थे। पेशे से डॉक्टर श्री यादव की उच्च-शिक्षा भारत में हुई है।

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Nepali counterpart KP Sharma Oli recognised the untapped potential of inland waterways to contribute towards overall economic development of the region. Taking cognisance of their geographies and noting the development of inland waterways in both countries, the two prime ministers took the landmark decision to develop inland waterways for cargo movement, within the framework of trade and transit arrangements, providing additional access to sea for Nepal.
