NITI Aayog department had launched NGO Darpan portal to maintain a centralized database of NGOs working in India. An NGO must get darpan registration to raise funding from government departments. Darpan registration is a free facility that NITI Aayog provides to NGOs and voluntary organizations. This facility will help the organizations to keep themselves updated with new government schemes and grants. This platform will help build a stronger relationship between the government and NGOs. Section 25 of the Companies Act, 2013 states that any voluntary organization or NGO registered in India as a trust or society or company under section 8 can enlist for Dapran registration. An NGO can register itself on the NGO Darpan portal to obtain a Unique Identity Number (UIN).
