Welcome to OU Admissions

The Directorate of Admissions, OU was established by the University in year 2000 with an aim to streamline the process of admissions to various courses offered by the university. The objective of introducing centralized admission is to conducts admissions in a systematic, transparent and student friendly manner. It is in these lines that the Directorate has been carrying out the task of admission process offered by the University and its affiliating institutions since 2000-2001 academic year. Besides, this office is also carrying out the process of admissions into various courses offered by Telangana, Mahatma Gandhi , Palamuru and Potti Sreeramulu Telugu Universities since their inception. The Office of the Directorate of admissions is headed by Director and Supported by the joint Directors along with other Supporting Staff.

Osmania University

Osmania University is one of the oldest universities in southern India and among the leading universities in the country. It was named for its founder, Nawab Osman Ali Khan, the last Nizam (monarch) of Hyderabad and a patron of education. At the time of its founding in 1918, the region of Hyderabad was part of British India. It was decided that the region needed a university which instructed in Urdu, the native majority language, as well as English. The university has 12 faculties and 53 departments. 25 undergraduate courses, 75 Master’s and 27 PhDs are available at Osmania. The university’s faculties are: Arts, Business Management, Commerce, Education, Engineering, Informatics, Law, Oriental Languages, Pharmacy, Science, Social Sciences and Technology. The most recent addition is the Faculty of Pharmacy, established in 2010. About 70 acres of the university campus are covered by gardens and 1000 acres have been planted with trees. The university also has its own deer park with over 200 deer. Osmania University is located in the modern region of Telangana, in the city of Hyderabad. The city is a meeting of the north and south: you can find cosmopolitan shopping malls and business districts (including Microsoft and Google’s India headquarters), and a short distance away visit the old town with its ancient mosques. Established in 1918, Osmania University was founded by Nawab Osman Ali Khan, the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad. OU Hyderabad is the seventh oldest university in India, the third oldest in south India. Osmania University is a state university accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a grade of A+. There are almost 500 colleges (both government and private) affiliated to Osmania University that offer various technical and non-technical courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. Osmania University offers UG programmes, PG programmes, postgraduate diploma, research programmes and certificate programmes. In NIRF 2021 Ranking, Osmania University has been ranked 62nd in the overall category. For the university category, Osmania University has been ranked 32 in the NIRF ranking 2021 whereas the varsity was ranked 29 in the same category for the year 2020. There are 5 constituent colleges of Osmania University namely University College for Women, Nizam College, University College of Science, Saifabad, University PG College, Secunderabad, and PG College of Law Basheerbagh. University College of Engineering

The University College of Engineering commenced in the year 1929 with an intake of 15 students, and Civil Engineering as the course of study. The College moved into the present majestic building in the year 1947 with the Department of Civil Engineering; the College grew from strength to strength and other branches of Engineering commenced later. It has the distinction of being the sixth oldest engineering institution of the country. Currently, the Department admits 60 candidates for the Under-Graduate programme and 50 for the Post-Graduate Courses each year, and also offers part time Post-Graduate courses for the benefit of working Engineers of the twin cities, admitting 45 candidates annually. The Post-Graduate programmes are offered with specialisation in Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Hydromechanics & Water Management, and Construction Engineering and Management. The Department has doctoral programmes as well, and has about 25 candidates enrolled. The Department provides research and consultancy services to various public and private sector organisations, and receives research and modernisation grants from UGC, DST, MHRD, and AICTE.
