Examination Information

The PEB examinations are based this year on legal texts and case law which were in force on 1 April 2023. Candidates will not be penalised for basing their answers on any amendments to the law enacted after 1 April 2023, or any case law published after 1 April 2023, and before the date of the examination. However, candidates must be consistent in their application of any recent changes in the law and are advised to mention in their answer if they are relying on provisions of law enacted or published after 1 April 2023. In relation to COVID-19, all dates and deadlines are to be taken as if the COVID-19 suspension had not occurred. Candidates are reminded that when answering questions in the Final Examination papers, they should not need to use technical knowledge which extends beyond that provided in the paper itself i.e. the exam scenarios are to be taken in context and external knowledge is not to be used. Some law changes have taken place in the year to 1 April 2023. Here is the PEB advice in relation to these changes. FC3 – International Patent Law Canada – An excess claim fee component for claims in excess of 20 will be added to both the request for examination fee and final fee and will apply to applications requesting examination on or after October 03, 2022. EPO – With a view to supporting users in an early uptake of the Unitary Patent, the EPO decided to introduce two transitional measures applicable to European patent applications having reached the final phase of...

PEB Results

I keep seeing a lot of people saying they got their results and ratings and submitted their acceptances already, and it seems like they submitted their cases to the PEB after December. My case was submitted to the Informal PEB December 21, 2015 and there still has been no action taken at all. My PEBLO isn't really offering any explanation or help. Is there anyone I can talk to at all besides her???? I'm getting really frustrated, especially after seeing everyone else's have some kind of action taken on it and mine is just sitting there like a dud. I read everything on the process and it's just not adding up. Plus, other people I know going through the process is going much faster than my base. It's ridiculous. PEBLO said they haven't even touched it but it's been there 3 months already! There is absolutely no one else I can talk to? No one in DC?
