The loan is extended for a variety of purposes which provides income generation and employment creation in manufacturing, trading and service enterprises including allied agricultural activities. Categorization of Mudra Loans Based on amount of the loan, following are the three categories: Shishu: Loans sanctioned under the scheme up to Rs.50,000 Kishore: Loans sanctioned under the scheme from Rs.50,001 to Rs.5,00,000 Tarun: Loans sanctioned under the scheme from Rs.5,00,001 to Rs.10,00,000 The maximum loan amount that can be availed of under PMMY is Rs.10,00,000 This categorization signifies the stage of growth / development and funding needs of the beneficiary micro unit/ entrepreneur and also provide a reference point for the next phase of graduation / growth. Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) is a flagship scheme of Government of India to “fund the unfunded” by bringing such enterprises to the formal financial system and extending affordable credit to them. It enables a small borrower to borrow from all Public Sector Banks such as PSU Banks, Regional Rural Banks and Cooperative Banks, Private Sector Banks, Foreign Banks, Micro Finance Institutions (MFI) and Non Banking Finance Companies (NBFC) for loans upto Rs 10 lakhs for non-farm income generating activities. The scheme was launched on 8th April, 2015 by the Hon'ble Prime Minister. Eligibility Any Indian Citizen who has a business plan for a non-farm sector income generating activity such as manufacturing, processing, trading or service sector and whose credit need is less than Rs 10 lakh can approach either a Bank, MFI, or NBFC for availing of Micro Units Development & Refinance Agency Ltd. (MUDRA) loans under Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY). About the Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY) Scheme: • Launched in April, 2015. • The scheme’s objective is to refinance collateral-free loans given by the lenders to small borrowers. • Banks and MFIs can draw refinance under the MUDRA Scheme after becoming member-lending institutions of MUDRA. • Mudra Loans are available for non-agricultural activities upto Rs. 10 lakh and activities allied to agriculture such as Dairy, Poultry, Bee Keeping etc, are also covered. • Mudra’s unique features include a Mudra Card which permits access to Working Capital through ATMs and Card Machines.
