Mani Ratnam's magnum opus, 'Ponniyin Selvan's second installment, PS 2 will release in April next year. The first part 'Ponniyin Selvan 1' became one of the biggest blockbusters in the Indian film industry. Having garnered both critical and audience acclaim, fans had been awaiting the announcement of 'PS 2' release ever since it was reported that Mani Ratnam had shot both parts of the film together. As promised, makers shared a special announcement teaser on December 28 , 4:00 PM announcing the release date of 'PS 2' to be April 28, 2023. 'Ponniyin Selvan 1' collected more than Rs. 500 crores worldwide in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada languages. The film is based on the acclaimed Tamil writer Kalki Krishnamurthy's 'Ponniyin Selvan' novels. Ponniyin Selvan 2 will soon start streaming on OTT giant Amazon Prime Video. They have secured rights to the movie as it did for its first chapter. With so much love pouring in for PS 2, the movie might not be able to hit the digital space until about five weeks after its theatrical release. Well, reportedly, the movie might hit the streaming platform by the second or third week of June. However, we are still waiting for the official announcement. PS2 or Ponniyin Selvan 2 is a sequel to the 2022 film Ponniyin Selvan 1 starring Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and others in the lead. Initially, it was planned to be released as one single film but was later split given the storyline. Meanwhile, the advance bookings for PS2 look to be fine. The audience is showing interest in it.
