Ramdara Mandir, Pune

We went to Ramdara Temple a week back. It's on the Solapur highway from Pune, after Hadapsar you need to leave the highway and take right turn towards Ramdara. The inner village roads were bit narrow but driveable for both 4 & 2 wheelers. In between some 2 kms before the temple a railway bridge construction is going on, for which we had to take a rough patch of about 500-600 mtrs to take a subway and come to the other side of the railway tracks. Otherwise the entire village road for about 7-8 kms was beautiful and quite natural. The parking is about 200 mtrs from the temple entrance, plenty of parking, also you can park nearby places beside the muddy village roads. The natural beauty of the surrounding was awesome, specifically during the early morning or evening. Keep a note that the temple closes by 5 pm. So visit the temple first and then after coming out you can stay for a while outside to enjoy the beauty. Inside the temple many statues of different Gods, Goddesses and many Saints can be seen. A big lake is there inside where you can feed lots of fishes if you carry puffed rice (murmura). The garden area is closed due to Covid-19 restrictions. Without that itself the temple is quite natural and spiritual. Outside the temple some local village people can be found selling fresh vegetables and all. We did not buy as just wanted to avoid crowd during this pandemic times. Next to the parking a road goes towards the Ramdara hill some plots are getting sold along the farms, ...

Bhuleshwar has a mythological & historical significance. Originally, it was a fort which was called as ‘Mangalgadh’. It is said thatParvati danced for Shiva and from here they went to Kailash and got married. This place is crowded during Mahashivratri. The temple is also known for the folk-tale about it, when a bowl of sweet (pedhas) is offered to the Shiva Ling, one or more of the sweets disappear. It is popular as Ganeshwari or Lambodari or Ganeshyani. Temple was built during the period of 1230 AD during Yadava Rulers. It is believed that the temple was ruined by Muslim invaders and reconstructed later because the entrance of the temple is hidden like Gaimukhi Buruj construction of Shivaji’s time. The fort on which the temple is situated is called as Daulatmangal fort, also at times referred as Mangalgad. Black basalt (AA type) rock was brought to construct this temple which is different as compared to surrounding brownish color basalt which has high percentage of calcium (lime – Chuna). The fort was constructed in 1629 by Murar Jagdev who, in 1630, looted Pune. He then built the fort to keep a watch on the city. By Road: The temple present in Bhuleshwar. Scenic and Serene – Ramdara Temple – And Miles to go before I sleep…

Many beautiful places surround Pune, starting from forts, museums, waterfalls, and places of religious importance. One such scenic place is Ramdara Temple which is located at Loni kalbor village in outskirts of Pune city. It is devoted to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The temple is more famous for Ram, Sita and Lakshman and hence the name Ramdara. The temple is well-covered by the green hills and visible only when you reach its entrance arch.Temple surrounded by lake, coconut & palm trees all around and beautiful reflections of the temple in the lake are enough to mesmerize one. Gentle morning breezes added charm. These trees have grown so huge that their branches cover the entire area, giving shade and peace to the people entering the temple. “When you’re outnumbered by trees, your perspective shifts.” Jessica Marie Baumgartner This quote fits perfectly as I felt we look so small in front of these trees which have been standing and growing here patiently for so many years and we still have a long way to go. It has a lot of options for a tourist in Pune – natural attractions, event attractions, history as well as religious attractions. Ramdara temple is one of them, very near the city but far off from the hustle-bustle of the metropolis on the Sholapur highway. My Uncle and Aunt had come over from Hyderabad along with my cousins, aged 10 and 11. My father planned a Pune city round-up for them on the next day. So the first day was free and my father felt I should take them to a Ramdara Temple, 30kms away from the Pune. Accordingly, the five of us set from Seagate on to the Sholapur Highway on a lovely Friday morning. We crossed some places like Hadapsar, Manjiri, etc, and reached the Loni Kalhor Toll plaza. We then crossed a bridge, a signboard with the name Ramdara and reached the Loni Kalbhor Village. From there we took a 7 km ride to this ancient temple.
