The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) is a humanitarian organization providing services to communities affected by natural and manmade disasters through the provision of emergency responses, ambulance and first aid, family reunification, essential drugs, water and sanitation, and other humanitarian services. ERCS also runs disaster risk reduction programs relating to food security, climate change adaptation, livelihood diversification, and institutional capacity building interventions, with the aim of creating resilience households and communities. ERCS works in partnership with the Ethiopian Government, International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC), International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), partnering National Societies, members, volunteers and the communities we serve. In collaboration with the American Red Cross, ERCS has developed a First Aid training app for Android mobiles. This free app features useful and easy-to-understand advice on 18 everyday first aid scenarios. It also includes tips on how to prepare for emergencies – from severe weather to road traffic accidents. The First Aid app is bilingual (English and Amharic) and can be downloaded to your mobile through the Google Play app store. The Ethiopian Red Cross Society has published its new Android mobile application which provides users with the latest news, vacancies and other updates. One of the new features on the ERCS mobile app is online registration for volunteers and members....

Introduction The Indian Red Cross Society Haryana State Branch is to prevent and alleviate suffering with complete impartiality, making no discrimination as to nationality, race, sex, religious beliefs, language, class or political opinions. To be a leading humanitarian organisation in India, improving the lives of vulnerable people through services delivered and promotion of humanitarian laws. To promote the Fundamental Principles of the Movement and the International Humanitarian Law in order to inculcate humanitarian ideals among the population, and in particular among children and youth.

Humanity The Red Cross, born of a desire to bring assistance without discrimination to the wounded on the battlefield, endeavors—in its international and national capacity—to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found. Its purpose is to protect life and health and to ensure respect for the human being. It promotes mutual understanding, friendship, cooperation and lasting peace amongst all peoples. Independence The Red Cross is independent. The national societies, while auxiliaries in the humanitarian services of their governments and subject to the laws of their respective countries, must always maintain their autonomy so that they may be able at all times to act in accordance with Red Cross principles.

Global Red Cross Network

The international Red Cross and Red Crescent network is the largest humanitarian network in the world with a presence and activities in almost every country. All Red Cross and Red Crescent activities have one central purpose: to help those who suffer, without discrimination, whether during conflict, in response to natural or man-made disasters, or due to conditions of chronic poverty. There are three parts of the global Red Cross network. Each has its own individual status and exercises no authority over the others. Learn more below. Uganda Redcross Society

Uganda Red Cross Society, Kakira Sugar Limited Partner to Mitigate Effects of Floods in Bugisu Sub-region. Kakira Sugar, Uganda's leading sugar producer has joined efforts with the Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) to combat the adverse impacts of floods in the Bugisu sub-region. In a concerted effort to conserve the environment, the two organizations have resumed their tree planting activities, aiming to plant over 50,000 grevillea trees over a 5 year period, starting with 10,000 trees this year. This is in addition to the 15,000 trees that Kakira Sugar Works in collaboration with URCS planted in Busoga region (Iganga and Namutumba area) in 2022. This year, this tree planting initiative kicked off on Tuesday, 6th June 2023 in Bungokho sub-county, Bushikori Parish, Nashikhaso village, located in the Mbale District. The event was held at the Bungokho sub-county grounds and was attended by representatives from Kakira Sugar, including James Mawa, the Horticulture Superintendent, and Susan Gimbo, the Public Relations Officer. The URCS team was led by Sarah Opimo Okello, an Environment Officer, and John Cliff Wamala, the Communication and PR Officer. Also present were Regina Mutuwa, Chairperson of the Mbale Disaster Risk Management Committee, and the village leadership of Nashikhaso village.
