The Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS), has donated non-food items worth 40 million shillings to the victims of the recent landslides. The landslides that were triggered by a heavy downpour in Bulambuli on 25th May left five people dead, injuring several others and directly affecting over 200 households (1000 people).



Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) was established in 1920 under the Indian Red Cross Society Act and incorporated under Parliament Act XV of 1920. The act was last amended in 1992 and of rules were formed in 1994. The IRCS has 35 State / Union Territories Branches with their more than 700 districts and sub district branches. The Red Cross movement began with the founding of the International Committee for the Relief of the Wounded (now the International Committee of the Red Cross) in 1863. It was established to care for victims of battle in time of war, but later national Red Cross societies were created to aid in the prevention and relief of human suffering generally.
