Paliem in Pernem taluka, roughly about 40km from Panaji, is skirted by Arambol, Keri, Korgao and Aronda in Maharashtra. Paliem is nestled along the coastal belt of Pernem somewhere between Morjim and Keri but is the only village with no access to the beach. A hill stands between it and the Arabian Sea. Goa’s famous sweet water lake, though accessed through Arambol, lies in the jurisdiction of Paliem village. The village has no commercial activity with very few people engaged in sand extraction which in recent times has been marred with legal tangles.
