Samarth Ramdas (c. 1608 - c. 1681), also known as Sant (saint) Ramdas or Ramdas Swami or simply Ramdas was an Indian Hindu saint, philosopher, poet, writer and spiritual master. He was initially named as Narayan after birth. He was a devotee of the Hindu deities Rama and Hanuman and also a contemporary of the Maratha rulers Shivaji and Sambhaji .



If our mind gets corrupted then we lose our reputation amidst people. In ‘Manache Shloka’, Samarth Ramdas Swami emphasizes the regulation of one’s desires, erroneous thoughts and negative emotions. Moreover, rational thinking and conscience is propagated to be widened and followed by one’s mind and confine oneself by self discipline.



Ramdas was born in the village Jambu near Bir Pargana on the bank of the river Godavari in Maharashtra in the year 1608. His father’s name was Suryaji Panth and his mother’s name was Rama Bai. As both the husband and the wife were devotees of Sri Ramachandra, they named of the child as Rarndas (the servant of Ram).
