HYDERABAD: At least six people suffocated to death and several others were feared trapped inside the eight-storied Swapnalok Complex in Secunderabad on Thursday after a short-circuit in the fifth floor air-conditioning unit triggered a mammoth fire that raced to the top floors, sending a huge pall of smoke billowing into the sky. This the latest in a string of fire accidents in and around Hyderabad over the last few months. The deceased identified as Pramila, Vennela, Sravani, Shiva. Triveni and Prashanth, all aged around 25, were among the six who locked themselves inside a washroom on the fifth floor and died of asphyxiation as the fire raged in the corridors. Doctors at Gandhi Hospital pronounced them dead on arrival, said district fire officer Srinivas Reddy, adding that 12 others had been rescued. This is the second time in a decade that the commercial complex, one of the oldest in Secunderabad, has turned into an inferno. The blinding smoke made it difficult for those trapped inside to track exit points even as 13 fire tenders battled the blaze in the highrise that houses outlets of garments and electronic outlets. The Swapnalok fire accident where as many as six youth died has filled five families of deceased in Warangal and Mahabubabad districts in sorrow. Immediately after receiving the information about the accident, the family members immediately rushed to Hyderabad and are weeping after seeing the dead bodies of their children in Gandhi Hospital. The deceased were identified as Siva from Narsampeta town of Warangal district, Vennela from Marripalli of Duggondi mandal and Shravani from Khanapur Prashant from Intikanne of Kesamudram mandal of Mahabubabad district and Pramila from Suresh Nagar near Kambalapally. According to the information, the fire accident occurred after the fire started on the eighth floor and spread to the 7th, 6th and 5th floors. Firefighters immediately reached the spot and worked hard to control the fire. After about three hours, the fire was reduced and spread again, alerted fire officials called in additional firefighters. A total of 15 fire engines were used to bring the fire under control. Meanwhile, the technical team will be visiting the fire accident site today to retrieve the details on how the accident occurred.

A day after three people were killed in a fire accident at Deccan Mall in Secunderabad's Nallagutta, the rescue team recovered their bodies from the damaged building on Friday. The deceased were identified as Junaid, Wasim, and Jahed of Bihar. The police said that the three bodies were completely charred and beyond recognition. On Thursday, a massive fire broke out on the ground floor of the Deccan Knitwear Sports Shop building and quickly spread to the upper floors. Firefighters took 10 hours to douse the flames at the building under the Ramgopalpet police station limits in Secunderabad. About 10 people who were trapped in the building were initially rescued by fire department personnel and the local police. The fire officials also doused the flames but the fire restarted again and about 30 firefighters were rushed to the spot to continue to help to contain the blaze. Heavy smoke engulfed the entire area and hindered the firefighting operations. The fire officials and police vacated the adjoining buildings as a precautionary measure. Hyderabad: Major fire breaks out near MJ market, no casualties

A major fire accident took place on Sunday evening, June 11, at a tent house located behind Karachi Bakery near Moazzam Jahi Market in Hyderabad. According to officials from the fire department, the fire quickly spread to a residential building adjacent to the tent house, resulting in damage to two flats. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. Speaking to TNM Hyderabad District Fire Officer (DFO) Srinivas Reddy stated, "We received an alert about the accident around 6:20 PM. The fire originated at Amar Centre, a tent house, possibly due to a short circuit. Nandini Residency, a residential building nearby, was also affected by the fire. A flat on the second floor of the apartment was completely damaged, while an office on the first floor suffered partial damage. We successfully evacuated five individuals from the second-floor flat." Visuals from the scene depicted intense flames engulfing the tent house, with heavy smoke surrounding the adjacent apartments. The DFO further mentioned that an assessment of the property damage has not been conducted yet and remarked, "It was a significant fire incident. We promptly responded to the scene and managed to bring the situation under control using four fire engines and 25 personnel."

The blaze was brought largely under control an hour and a half after it broke out in the building. A few persons who were trapped on the fourth and fifth floors rushed towards the balconies and using mobile phone lights alerted the fire officials. Police deployed a fire snorkel truck to reach and bring them down. On the information provided by those rescued about a few more including persons being trapped inside the building, fire personnel launched coordinated rescue operations by roping in personnel from various disaster management agencies including the fire department, GHMC Disaster Response Force, and local police. The victims reportedly died after inhaling thick smoke. The fire broke out on the 5th floor of the Swapnalok Complex at 7.30 pm due to a short circuit. 13 people were trapped inside, of which 7 were rescued safely while the other 6 succumbed due to thick smoke. Eight persons died of suffocation and one person has been critically injured after a fire broke out at Ruby Motors and Ruby Pride Luxury Hotel building near the passport office in Telangana’s Secunderabad late Monday night. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Zone) Deepthi Chandana said officials suspect that the fire occurred due to an explosion either in an electrical scooter or a generator in the Ruby Motors showroom which is on the ground floor of the building. The hotel is situated on the top five floors of the building and has 28 rooms. As many as 25 guests were present when the fire broke out around 10 pm, officers said. The police said that for the last one year, the owners of Ruby Motors – Rajender Singh Bugga and Sumeet Singh – were running the e-bike business illegally from the cellar of the building where the explosion occurred. Six people, including four women, are confirmed dead following a major fire that erupted at a famous commercial building complex in one of the busiest areas of Secunderabad, Telangana, Thursday evening, the police said. The deceased, identified as R Shiva, R Vennela, B Shravani, B Pramila, Triveni, and Prashanth, were trapped inside the 10-storeyed Swapnalok Complex and died of asphyxiation, said fire officers. According to the fire department officials, the blaze started around 7.30 pm and was brought under control by 11 pm after more than 11 fire-tenders were pressed into service. Firefighters had rescued four women and four men in an unconscious state, out of whom six of them were declared dead while undergoing treatment at a hospital. DCP (North) Chandana Deepti said the building maintenance committee has been booked for failing to ensure the safety of the building and that no one is being allowed inside the B-Block until the structural safety of the building is examined. A case is registered under section 304 (part II) (Whoever causes the death of any person by doing any rash or negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide) and relevant IPC sections at Mahankali police station and an investigation is on.
