Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) is a national health insurance, assurance scheme under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), facilitated through existing sub centers, health and wellness centers (HWCs) to provide cashless hospitalization care to poor and vulnerable household population of India. The center-sponsored scheme is popular for its non-contributory family floater health plan where the premium is not paid by beneficiaries in case of the treatment that requires any members to be admitted to and remain in hospital overnight, or more—and covers medical cost up to INR 5 lakh. Nonetheless, families will have to consider their eligibility and registration criteria to apply for Ayushman Bharat Yojana. ‘Scan & Share’: Seamless way to avail care at govt hosps

Express News Service BENGALURU: The Karnataka Health Department plans to focus on technology to create a seamless end-to-end digitised healthcare system to give patients a hassle-free experience while visiting government hospitals. In October 2022, the National Health Authority (NHA), under its flagship scheme Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), introduced the ‘scan and share’ service for patients for faster registration in outpatient departments (OPDs). The aim was to reduce waiting time for patients at OPDs. Dr Arun Kumar, deputy director (e-health), said Karnataka is at the forefront of implementing the ‘scan and share’ service. The state stands second in the country with 8.54 lakh tokens issued till now after Uttar Pradesh (12.7 lakh tokens). Within five months of the launch, the scan and share facility has been implemented in 198 hospitals and this has helped in reducing patients’ waiting time by at least 15-20 minutes. “Our focus now is to invest more in setting up a LAN network, invest more in computer systems and printers as well to create an end-to-end digitised ecosystem wherein doctors, lab technicians, nurses and wards are functioning in synchronisation. The digitised records not only save paper but also provide staff with the patient’s complete history for better diagnosis,” Dr Kumar added. Aarogya Setu app users can now generate the Aadhaar card-like 14-digit Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) number, the central government announced on Friday. The National Health Authority (NHA) has also announced its integration with Aarogya Setu under its flagship scheme Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). This association will help users to generate a 14-digit unique ABHA ID number to the Aarogya Setu, link their existing and new medical records including doctor prescriptions, lab reports, hospital records etc. Additionally, the users will also be able to share these records with registered health professionals and health service providers and access other digital health services. “With the integration of Aarogya Setu with ABDM, we will now be able to make the benefits of ABDM available to the users of Aarogya Setu and enable them to join the digital health ecosystem, with their due consent. Creation of ABHA is the start, and we would soon roll out the functionality to view your digital health records as well,” said Dr R S Sharma, CEO, National Health Authority (NHA). The Union health ministry on Friday announced the integration of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) with the Aarogya Setu mobile application which will take the benefits of the 14-digit unique Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) number to the users of the app. Following the integration, more than 21.4 crore users of the Aarogya Setu app will be able to generate the ABHA numbers using the app.(AP File Photo) Integration with the Aarogya Setu app will amplify the benefits of the ABHA numbers, the ministry said. So far, 16.4 crore ABHA numbers have been generated under the ABDM. “Under the ABDM, a user can generate their unique ABHA number.
