Major Issues, Divine Laws and Guidance • Al-Qur'an is beyond all doubts and is sent to warn those people to whom no Warner has come before. • On the Day of Judgement, the disbelievers shall believe but that belief will be of no benefit to them. • There is a special reward for those who forsake their beds and invoke their Rabb with fear and hope, and spend in charity. • Al-Qur'an is similar to the Book which was given to the Prophet Musa (Moses). Theme The main theme of this Surah is to remove doubts the people had concerning Tawhid, the Hereafter and the Prophethood, and to invite them to all these three realities. The disbelievers are asked to use their common sense and judge for themselves as to which of the things presented by The Qur'an are strange and novel: "Look at the administration of the heavens and the earth: consider your own creation and structure. Don't these things testify to the teaching which this Prophet is presenting before you in the Qur'an? Does the system of the universe point towards Tawhid or towards shirk? Does your intellect testify that the One Who has given you your present existence will not be able to create you once again?" Then a scene of the Hereafter has been depicted, the fruits of belief and the evil consequences of disbelief have been mentioned and the people exhorted to give up disbelief even before they meet their doom and accept the teaching of the Qur'an, which will be to their own advantage in the Hereafter. Surah Sajdah is the 32nd surah of the Noble Quran that Allah revealed to Prophet Muhammad in Mecca. The surah gets its naming from the 15th verse of the surah, which is a verse of compulsory sajdah. «أُرِيتُ لَيْلَةَ أُسْرِيَ بِي مُوسى بْنَ عِمْرَانَ رَجُلًا آدَمَ طِوَالًا جَعْدًا كَأَنَّهُ مِنْ رِجَالِ شَنُوءَةَ، وَرَأَيْتُ عِيسى رَجُلًا مَرْبُوعَ الْخَلْقِ إِلَى الْحُمْرَةِ وَالْبَيَاضِ، سَبْط الرَّأْسِ، وَرَأَيْتُ مَالِكًا خَازِنَ النَّارِ وَالدَّجَّال» (On the night of Isra', I saw Musa bin `Imran, a tall, brown-skinned man with curly hair, looking like the men of Shanu'ah; and I saw `Isa, a man of medium stature and ruddy white skin, and with lank hair. And I saw Malik the Keeper of Hell, and the Dajjal.) What is Sajdah in Islam? Sajdah which is called as prostration is one of the most important pillars in Islam and Muslims are asked to perform Sajdah daily. Muslims perform Sajdah in every prayer and thus, sajdah is paid to the Lord of the Universe several times a day by Muslims. In every rakat of the Salah, two sujud are performed and so the number of sujud performed by Muslims depends on the number of Rakat. Types of Sujud Following are the types of Sujud other than the Sujud of those which are performed during Salah: Sajdah of Thankfulness This is from the sunnah of the Islamic prophet Muhammad that whenever he used to hear news which would make him happy, he would make sujud to thank Allah. Sajdah of recitation / Tilawah During recitation (tilawa) of the Qur'an, including individual and congregation prayers, there are fifteen places where Muslims believe, when Muhammad recited a certain verse (ayah), he prostrated to God. Sajdah of forgetfulness Sujud Sahwi or Sajdah of forgetfulness occurs during the ritual salat prayer. Out of forgetfulness a person can either omit obligatory parts of salat (Qabli) or add to the salat (Ba'adi). In either cases the person corrects his/her salat by doing the Sujud Sahwi.
