The day also saw 342 getting discharged. The total number of recoveries so far was 29,38,653. The total number of active cases in the state is 8,914. While the case positivity rate for the day stood at 0.30 per cent, the case fatality rate (CFR) was at 1.88 per cent. In another news, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Saturday challenged veteran Congress leader Siddaramaiah to visit the villages in Hangal assembly constituency to see the development there before inviting him for a debate on a public platform. As the Covid-19 cases are increasing in the city, BBMP chief commissioner Gaurav Gupta on Tuesday instructed the chief health officer Dr Balasundar to identify a Covid Care Centre in all assembly constituencies in BBMP limits. Speaking after inspecting the Covid Care Centre established at Kempegouda community hall under CSR funds in Nandini layout in Mahalakshmi constituency in the city, he said that, as Covid cases are increasing day by day, one centre in each assembly constituency should be reopened. Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday said the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board will come into being in the next two days while 14,000 vacant posts will be filled soon. The chief minister further said that the state government had announced a grant of Rs 3,000 crore for which preparing an action plan was underway. "I have ordered the appointment for the KKRDB. In a week's time all the officers will take charge. In two days, KKRDB's full-fledged board will come into existence," Bommai told reporters. Bengaluru Covid cases spike 177% higher in 24 hours

Karnataka logged 215 fresh cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, compared to the 135 cases registered the day before, of which 75 cases were from state capital Bengaluru alone, data from the health department said. Even with 114 recoveries, the southern state's active caseload crossed the 900 mark, standing at 907.
