WTC Final: Shubman Gill sanctioned after criticizing umpire's decision, India lose match fee for slow over rate

By India Today Sports Desk: India were fined their entire match fee for slow over-rate in their defeat to Australia in the World Test Championship final at The Oval. India lost the title clash by 209 runs after a dramatic collapse on Sunday. India opener Shubman Gill was also sanctioned after his sarcastic social media post over a controversial Cameron Green catch which was upheld by the third umpire. Gill's social media posts also drew strong reactions from Ricky Ponting and Justin Langer. One of the challenges now of a modern-day cricketer is there’s so much social media,” former...

World Test Championship: India captain Rohit Sharma wants final to be three

Rohit acknowledged the biggest obstacle to a final series is finding the space in an increasingly hectic schedule. "You need to have fair opportunities to both the teams," the 36-year-old said. "In the next cycle, if it is possible, a three-match series would be ideal. "I would love that. But is there a time? That's the big question. "You cannot get into that momentum that you need in Test cricket. "Test cricket is all about finding that rhythm, finding that momentum." Australia captain Pat Cummins says he is happy with the current format and pointed to one-off finals in other sports such as Australian ...
