The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Thane and Mumbai in the wake of the cyclone. While the airlines blamed the weather for the diversion, the passengers said that two attempts to land in Mumbai were aborted. A spokesperson for Indigo said, “Due to bad weather, the pilot could not land in Mumbai and decided to go to Udaipur… After landing in Udaipur, he said he was fatigued and hence asked for crew replacement. This took some time and the flight left after 6 pm.” The cyclone is expected to make landfall near Jakhau port in Gujarat's Kutch district on June 15. Authorities have so far evacuated over 37,000 people from different coastal regions.
